Role Description As an Underwriter focused on Group Participant Accident insurance, you will seek profitable growth of the company’s portfolio of specialty accident business by: - Analyzing and selecting risks based on qualified underwriting criteria that adhere to the company’s established underwriting guidelines. - Working closely with more seasoned underwriting staff to develop more advanced underwriting acumen over time. - Gaining a thorough understanding of the Company’s compliance, actuarial, claims, and distribution departments. - Managing your workload with a sense of urgency around quote deadlines and production targets. - Collaborating with underwriting management to review complex cases requiring a higher degree of underwriting authority. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree - Minimum 2 – 5 years of experience as an underwriter, underwriting assistant, or underwriting admin. - Knowledge of participant accident and corporate accident products is preferred but not required. - Experience with policy management and underwriting systems a plus. - An understanding of the needs of our customers, both insureds and their agents alike. - Strong consulting and interpersonal skills with an ability to interact with brokers, clients, and service vendors. - A strong customer service bias; known for super responsiveness. - An analytical mind; enjoys diving into the details of an account. - Exceptional oral and written communication skills; flexible communication style. - Calm under pressure; excellent organizational skills, integrity, and great follow-through on tasks. - Establish and maintain positive working relationships with all operational areas, management, and staff. - Proficiency with the Microsoft suite of products.
