Accountant, Assistant Manager
Streets
• Manage a portfolio of clients, including racehorse trainers, breeders, and equestrian businesses, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and tax returns. • Prepare year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies, including those operating in racing, breeding, and equine services. • Attend client meetings, often on-site at stud farms, training yards, or racecourses, to build strong relationships and provide tailored financial advice. • Oversee and mentor junior team members, reviewing work and supporting their development. • Prepare and review VAT returns, tax computations, and advisory schedules, with a focus on agricultural and equine tax planning.
Job Requirements
- ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
- Proven experience in general practice, ideally with exposure to rural, agricultural, or equine clients, or a strong interest in this area
- Up to date working knowledge of VAT
- Strong IT skills, including cloud accounting platforms (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks)
- Ability to travel to client premises, including racecourses, studs, and rural locations
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- A genuine interest in the horse racing and bloodstock industry is highly desirable.

Role Description The Regional Accounts Payable Manager is a critical member of the Finance team managed from the US office(s) of The Channel Company (“TCC”). This role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the accounts payable department and ensuring that all invoices and payments are processed accurately and efficiently. They must be able to take a “hands-on” approach and adapt to TCC’s continually evolving environment and thrive in an autonomous and deadline-oriented workplace. This position reports to the US Accounts Payable Manager. - Oversee the processing of invoices received from vendors and suppliers. - Manage the Company’s AP automation software, ensuring accurate vendor onboarding and workflow approvals. - Generate reports weekly on accounts payable metrics, such as invoice aging, payment status and cash flow projections. - Conduct payment runs on a weekly basis ensuring alignment with the cash forecast. - Maintain positive relationships with vendors and suppliers, addressing any issues or inquiries related to payments and resolving any discrepancies that may arise. - Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliation of the AP Aging. - Oversee the employee expense reimbursement process. - Support the annual financial audit as required. - Ensure compliance with company policies and procedure, as well as relevant accounting standards and regulations. - Continuously evaluate and improve accounts payable processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy. - Perform ad hoc analysis as needed.
