We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Developer with over 10 years of experience in software development, architecture, and solution design to join our Life Insurance Line of Business (LOB). The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in AWS Mainframe Modernization (AWS M2) or experience with Microfocus, strong secondary skills in Power BI, and exposure to Python and Generative AI (GenAI) technologies. A strong background in the AWS cloud stack is essential. This is a strategic technical role requiring experience in mainframe modernization, cloud-native development, data visualization, and emerging technologies to support initiatives in the Life Insurance domain. Position Responsibilities: - Support and enhance applications hosted on AWS and Micro Focus (M2) platforms - Deliver application enhancements, bug fixes, and performance improvements - Work closely with Enterprise Architects, Infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders - Manage integrations across systems (e.g., email, print, APIs, third-party platforms) - Monitor applications using Splunk and troubleshoot issues proactively - Develop and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards - Ensure system reliability, data accuracy, and operational continuity - Participate in disaster recovery, compliance, and governance activities Position Qualifications: - 10+ years of experience in application development/support. - Proven experience with AWS Mainframe Modernization (AWS M2), including tools like Micro Focus, BluAge, or AWS Migration Hub. - Hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, S3, basic cloud services) - Working knowledge of Python, especially in automation or data processing contexts. - Experience with legacy systems (COBOL / Micro Focus / mainframe modernization) or willingness to learn. - Experience working with system integrations (APIs, batch processes, etc.) - Familiarity with Splunk (or similar monitoring tools) - Experience with Power BI (or similar reporting tools) - Strong problem-solving and communication skills - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field or the equivalent in related work experience. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with AWS Mainframe Modernization (M2) - Knowledge of Life insurance domain (policy, claims, etc.) - Exposure to event-driven or enterprise system architecture - Experience working with vendors or managed service partners - AWS Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer, Solutions Architect) preferred. - This position works at the Kemper office preferred but we can consider remote only working from a US based home location. The base range for this position is $89,000 to $148,100. When determining candidate offers, we consider experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location among other factors.
