• Manage portfolio of clients from inception to review • Ensuring smooth processing of jobs from information collection through to submission • Organise workflow to ensure prompt completion of jobs • Manage team throughout the R&D process and ensure deadlines are met • Organise educational seminars with clients and present either in person or via Teams • Work with clients to improve their record keeping and approach • Interview clients with junior staff and ensure all R&D criterion are being met • Deal with any HMRC enquiries that may arise • Ensure Reports are complete and of a high standard before final review by Senior Tax Manager/Director • Assist in the training of junior staff • Business Development
Job Requirements
- Demonstratable experience of R&D tax relief
- Excellent report writing skills
- Comfortable in client facing role
- Up to date knowledge of relevant legislation and case law
- Experience of working as part of a team and managing staff
- Able to manage both staff and jobs to ensure all relevant deadlines are met

About the Role We’re seeking a senior, client-facing Tax & Business Services Accountant to join a growing Australian accounting practice and take ownership of a portfolio of SME clients. This is not a pure compliance role - you will be responsible for managing end-to-end client relationships, delivering high-quality tax compliance work, and supporting tax planning and advisory initiatives. You will work across a diverse portfolio including companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals, handling everything from financial statements and tax returns to BAS, payroll, and ongoing client queries. This role requires someone who is comfortable operating with autonomy, managing deadlines across multiple clients, and contributing to both compliance and advisory work. You’ll work closely with senior accountants and leadership while also acting as a key point of contact for clients, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and proactive communication at all times. Key Responsibilities: Manage and own a portfolio of SME clients across multiple entity types Prepare and lodge tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals Prepare financial statements, working papers, and year-end adjustments Handle BAS, IAS, GST reconciliations, and activity statement lodgements Manage monthly bookkeeping, reconciliations, and general ledger accuracy Prepare and review payroll, STP, and superannuation compliance Assist with tax planning, structuring, and advisory work (including Div7A, CGT, FBT) Review and resolve discrepancies, tax issues, and compliance gaps Collaborate with senior accountants on complex client matters and advisory projects Maintain strong client relationships and respond to tax and accounting queries Ensure all work is completed accurately and in line with ATO requirements Identify process improvements and contribute to operational efficiency Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Australian tax legislation and regulatory changes
**Position Summary** As an Amrock / Tax Certificate Team Lead, you will be tasked with guiding a group of employees as they complete daily reports, communicate with clients and keep up with daily workflow and processes. You will be a direct contact to provide information to a supervisor on the team's progress. You will assist in tracking productivity, audits and should a conflict arise; the Team Lead must work with team members to solve a question quickly and effectively. You will be representing the organization in a professional manner through appearance, language, and behavior. Team Leads shall promote and develop individuals with mutual respect, emotional intelligence, diversity, and dignity. You will be required to provide direction, instructions, and guidance to your team. You will also be asked to know your team members' strengths, weaknesses, and motivations. **Position Type and Expected Hours of Work** This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. • Maintain a tax calendar of required domestic compliance for indirect taxes (including Sales & Use, franchise and property taxes). • Assist legal department with Annual Report filings. • Review of Sales & Use Tax returns. • Preparation of Personal Property tax returns. • Preparation of Sales & Use tax account reconciliations. • Completion of registration forms for newly established entities. • Manage, monitor and maintain log of notices from and responses to taxing authorities. • Assist with audits of indirect taxes. • Preparation of W-8, W-8BENs, etc. • Work with accounting teams to settle intercompany balances. • Assist other members of Tax issues which arise in the day-to-day operations. • Assist in global tax strategy as needed.
