• Develop and maintain systems using COBOL DB2, COBOL CICS, and COBOL Batch, ensuring high performance and process stability • Handle sequential files and VSAM, ensuring data integrity and efficient read/write processes • Prepare and execute JCL (Job Control Language) to manage jobs and processes in a mainframe environment • Use Roscoe for editing and manipulating code and data in the mainframe environment • Create test scenarios to validate code quality and ensure deliveries meet stakeholder expectations • Implement code versioning practices using GIT, ensuring control and traceability of code versions • Develop headless COBOL programs (no user interface) and integrate them with APIs using z/OS Connect • Collaborate on the use of containers for development and testing of COBOL programs, integrating them into a modern DevOps environment • Maintain attention to quality in analysis, documentation, and coding (cleanliness, readability, non-redundancy, and standardization)
Job Requirements
- Extensive experience developing with COBOL DB2, COBOL CICS, and COBOL Batch
- Knowledge of sequential file handling and VSAM
- Proficiency in JCL and experience using Roscoe in a mainframe environment
- Proven ability to create and execute test scenarios to ensure delivery of high-quality code
- Experience with code versioning using GIT
- Familiarity with developing headless COBOL programs and integrating with APIs using z/OS Connect
- Knowledge of using containers for development and testing in COBOL environments
- Nice to have: Experience working in DevOps and CI/CD environments
- Knowledge of legacy system modernization practices
- Experience using Freshservice
