Technical Writer 2 Hybrid Boston, MA Full time The Red Hat Customer Content Services (CCS) team is looking for a Technical Writer to join our expanding organization in Boston. In this role, you will promote customer loyalty and success through content development and delivery. Drawing from your passion for technology, you'll work closely with software engineers, quality experience, user experience, field teams and support engineers, and other subject matter experts to create content that helps our customers understand our offerings and find the best solutions for their needs. As a Technical Writer you will work with dynamic, fast-paced Agile teams to bring to market new and exciting technologies. What you will do: - Work closely with content strategists, documentation program managers, engineering project teams, support teams, and other stakeholders to create and maintain high-quality documentation for upcoming releases of Red Hat’s offerings. - Prioritize and deliver customer-focused documentation aligned to established processes. - Provide feedback to other technical writers to improve the quality and consistency of our content. - Work with quality engineering (QE) and development to improve the accuracy of your documentation. - Address customer feedback, and promote continuous improvement of the documentation experience. - Contribute to the achievement of team goals through completion of tasks. - Learn to use our internal documentation toolchain, including the publishing platform and issue tracking tools. - Keep up to date on changes to our offerings, customer use cases, support issues, and business strategy. - Devote time to research and increase your understanding of your product area, including related trends and topics in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and machine learning operations (MLOps). - Engage with upstream communities to support upstream documentation and process improvements. - Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing LLMs (e.g., Google Gemini) for tasks such as deep research, summarizing complex technical information, drafting communications, and enhancing problem-solving efficiency across the documentation lifecycle. - Explore and experiment with emerging AI technologies relevant to technical writing, proactively identifying opportunities to incorporate new AI capabilities into existing workflows and tooling to improve content quality and delivery speed. What you will bring: - Experience with the software development lifecycle, including an understanding of the customer lifecycle and knowledge of different content development and publishing methodologies, tools, and defect-tracking systems. - Familiarity with structured, topic-based authoring, information architecture; experience with DITA is a big plus. - Ability to collaborate in a global team environment, proactively engage subject matter experts, and follow through on commitments. - Familiarity with version control systems and Git. - Knowledgeable of Agile and rapid iteration releases. - Demonstrated success taking accountability for project prioritization, execution, and completion. - Knowledge of AI, ML, and MLOps concepts and technologies. - Familiarity with upstream open source communities. The salary range for this position is $86,640.00 - $138,500.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications. Pay Transparency Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience. Role Description We are currently recruiting for two Fisheries Biologists - Technical Leads to provide program and biological support in conducting interagency consultations under ESA, MSA, FWCA, MMPA, and FPA, and NEPA assessments, including scientific evaluation and document preparation activities according to Regional procedures. The Technical Leads will also assist Government personnel in managing workload, oversight, tasks, and consultations assigned to staff working under this order. These will be full-time positions. Work will be performed remotely, and will begin within 10 days of award. There is one 12-month Base Year with up to four Option Years. - Provide operational oversight of all tasks and projects assigned by Government personnel under this order. - Distribute tasks and projects assigned by Government personnel to the contract personnel, assist in developing specific tasks and timelines for each project. - Act as the primary liaison between contract personnel and WCR staff, review contract deliverables prior to submission to government personnel, and ensure adherence to WCR protocols in all tasks and deliverables. - Regularly meet with or provide updates to WCR staff, as determined by WCR staff. - Review, gather, analyze, interpret, and synthesize scientific data and technical information for the purpose of determining environmental impacts on biological resources and aquatic habitats. - Evaluate the proposed project effects of human activities on fishery resources, protected species, and habitat. - Write combined ESA Biological Opinions, ESA Letters of Concurrence, and MSA responses to action agencies related to their Biological Assessments for listed salmon and steelhead, designated critical habitat, and essential fish habitat under NMFS jurisdiction. - Review biological assessments, permit applications, and/or consultation initiation packages from action agencies for listed salmon and steelhead, designated critical habitat, and essential fish habitat under NMFS jurisdiction and provide feedback and technical support to action agencies. - Provide pre-consultation technical assistance to action agencies, applicants, or their representatives in response to inquiries. - Review applications from action agencies to enroll in existing programmatic consultations and draft letters or emails to enroll applications into existing programmatic consultations. - Prepare environmental documentation pursuant to NEPA. - Prepare draft incidental take permits and other necessary documentation for ESA section 10 activities. - Revise documents based on review comments received from WCR NMFS and General Counsel staff, technical comments received from tribes and states, and based on substantive public review comments to complete final versions of the ESA, NEPA and other associated documents. - Coordinate with NMFS fish passage engineers for reviews of proposed designs. - Coordinate with NMFS’ Science Center and other federal, state, or academic researchers in evaluating the status of species and impacts from actions. - Prepare appropriate documentation for each consultation and follow WCR protocols for quality assurance, electronic filing, and consultation tracking. - Coordinate with Project Officer or Geographic Branch Manager on assignments, work products, and project schedule. - Participate in WCR teams as necessary to complete the tasks in this contract. - Follow recommendations from agency staff on legal, regulatory, or technical sufficiency and compliance. - Assist in the development and implementation of mitigation banks. - Prepare appropriate documentation for each consultation, status review, or permit, including assembling and managing administrative records as necessary. - Participate in meetings with action agencies, applicants or permittees, special interest groups, state officials, and tribal representatives, as necessary.
