Role Description The Leidos Chief Data & Analytics Office (CDAO) is a high-growth organization at the center of the company's technology strategy. Our Operational AI (Ops AI) division is seeking a motivated and talented AI Infrastructure & Security Intern to join our team for a Summer 2026 engagement. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the development of secure and scalable AI solutions that power our nation's most mission-critical applications. As an AI Infrastructure & Security Intern, you will gain hands-on experience at the intersection of cloud security, AI platform engineering, and federal compliance. You will work alongside experienced engineers, data scientists, and cybersecurity professionals to support the design, deployment, and hardening of AI infrastructure. This internship is designed for aspiring technologists who are passionate about building trusted AI systems and want to make a meaningful impact in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. This internship directly supports high-priority strategic AI initiatives, giving you exposure to real-world challenges in operationalizing AI at enterprise scale. - Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field. - Candidates should have completed their junior year (or equivalent) by the start of the internship. - Foundational knowledge of cloud computing concepts and at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP). - Familiarity with containerization and orchestration concepts (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). - Exposure to federal compliance frameworks such as NIST SP 800-53, FedRAMP, or FISMA through coursework, projects, or prior experience. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document technical processes clearly. - Must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance. Qualifications - Currently pursuing a Master's degree or higher in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field. - US citizenship required. - Foundational knowledge of cloud computing concepts and at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP). - Familiarity with containerization and orchestration concepts (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). - Exposure to federal compliance frameworks such as NIST SP 800-53, FedRAMP, or FISMA through coursework, projects, or prior experience. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document technical processes clearly. Preferred Qualifications - Programming experience in Python, with exposure to scripting for automation, data analysis, or security tooling. - Familiarity with MLOps tools and platforms such as MLflow, Kubeflow, or AWS SageMaker. - Understanding of AI ethics, responsible AI principles, and emerging federal guidance on trustworthy AI. - Exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible. - Knowledge of AI security frameworks such as MITRE ATLAS, NIST AI RMF, or OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications. - Interest in or contributions to open-source projects in AI, cybersecurity, or cloud infrastructure. - Prior internship, co-op, or project experience in cybersecurity, cloud engineering, or DevSecOps. - Coursework or certifications in cloud security (e.g., AWS Cloud Practitioner, CompTIA Security+, AZ-900). Pay Range Pay Range $57,850.00 - $104,575.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
