Job Description
Business Data Analyst
StackAdapt
Role Description The Business Data Analyst role is a unique combination of technical execution and internal customer relationship management. You will serve as a "context-shifter"—equally comfortable navigating complex SQL databases as you are advocating for the needs of our business partners. We are looking for a versatile professional who doesn't just pull data, but seeks to understand the "why" behind every metric to ensure our business objectives are met with precision. StackAdapt is a remote-first company. We are open to hire residents of Canada. What You'll Be Doing: - Stakeholder Partnership: Act as a customer-facing advocate for the business. You will lead discovery sessions to understand requirements, define key metrics, and draft Business Requirement Documents (BRDs). - Partner with RevOps, Marketing Ops, and CRM administrators to maintain data integrity across systems (e.g., Salesforce), including field-level metric population, account structure governance, and cross-system reconciliation. - CRM & Cross-functional Data Stewardship: Partner with RevOps, Marketing Ops, and CRM administrators to maintain data integrity across systems (e.g., Salesforce), including field-level metric population, account structure governance, and cross-system reconciliation. - Technical Execution: Execute project work and "hands-on-keyboard" development. This includes writing complex SQL queries, navigating disparate databases, and investigating data sets to find "the truth." - Requirement Translation: Bridge the gap between technical and non-technical teams by translating high-level business goals into actionable technical specifications. - Data Discovery & Troubleshooting: Serve as the first line of defense for troubleshooting data issues and fulfilling ad-hoc data requests to support immediate business needs. - Pipeline Foundation: In your first 3–6 months, you will focus heavily on building and optimizing data pipes to ensure a robust foundation for future analysis. Qualifications - Relational Database Proficiency: Deep comfort navigating unfamiliar RDBMS environments, including complex joins, schema exploration, data lineage investigation, and query optimization. Experience with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake is a plus. - Exceptional Communication: Strong soft skills with a track record of translating technical concepts for executive-level stakeholders. - Versatility: The ability to "live in multiple contexts" and pivot quickly from deep technical work to strategic business meetings. - Technical Curiosity: You are proactive about personal projects and stay up-to-date with industry trends, including a high proficiency in using LLMs to accelerate workflows. - ETL/ELT Knowledge: Hands-on experience building and maintaining data pipelines. - LLM/AI Literacy: An appreciation for how data model design (e.g., star schemas, clear naming conventions) improves AI/ML system integration and reliability. - Python (Plus): Experience with Python for automation or advanced analysis is a nice-to-have. Requirements The compensation range listed for this role reflects the expected base salary for candidates located in Ontario, Canada. It is informed by market data and the approved budget for this position. StackAdapt maintains different compensation ranges for roles across other countries and regions, and final offers will be aligned to the candidate’s current location. - This range represents base salary only. Depending on the role, candidates may also be eligible for additional compensation such as annual bonuses, commissions, equity awards, and a comprehensive benefits package. - Factors Influencing Final Compensation: - The final compensation offer will be determined by a variety of factors, which may include, but are not limited to: the candidate's specific experience, technical skills, knowledge, abilities, and relevant education, licensure, and certifications. - Other business factors, such as organizational needs and budget alignment, may also be considered in the final offer. Benefits - Highly competitive salary - Retirement/401K/Pension Savings globally - Competitive Paid time off packages including birthdays off! - Access to a comprehensive mental health care program - Health benefits from day one of employment - Work from home reimbursements - Optional global WeWork membership for those who want a change from their home office and hubs in London and Toronto - Robust training and onboarding program - Coverage and support of personal development initiatives (conferences, courses, books, etc.) - Access to StackAdapt programmatic courses and certifications to support continuous learning - An awesome parental leave program - A friendly, welcoming, and supportive culture - Our social and team events!
