Role Description The Ryder Financial Operations Reporting department is a high-performing team that focuses on accounting and banking operations, financial analysis, balance sheet accounts reconciliation, and support to business leaders across the organization. As an Accounting Intern you will: - Learn the fundamentals of accounting and operations reporting through formal and on-the-job training. - Assist with research, filing, data entry, and record and maintain accurate and complete financial records in Workday ERP System. - Prepare account reconciliations in industry leading Blackline Reconciliation Tool. - Handle sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity. - Learn how to work as part of the Accounting team to compile and analyze data, track information, and support the company. - Take on additional tasks or projects to learn more about accounting and department operations. • Perform detailed reviews of customer contracts and order forms to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment under ASC 606/ IFRS 15, including identification of performance obligations, allocation, and timing of revenue. • Apply ASC 606/ IFRS 15 guidance to complex SaaS arrangements, including subscription, usage‑based, and multi‑element contracts. • Execute monthly and quarterly revenue close activities, including revenue and deferred revenue reconciliations, journal entries and supporting schedules, flux and variance analysis. • Ensure accuracy and completeness of revenue‑related accounts, including deferred revenue, contract assets, and AR‑related balances. • Partner with Sales, Deal Desk, Legal, Billing, and Finance Operations to resolve revenue and billing issues as well as to clarify contract terms with accounting impact. • Participate in system enhancements, process improvements, and testing activities (including UAT) related to revenue accounting. • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, controls, and scalability across revenue processes. • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to audit inquiries related to revenue. • Ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance with company accounting policies and U.S. GAAP. • Act as a senior team member by reviewing work, sharing best practices, and informally mentoring less‑experienced revenue accountants. • Contribute to continuous improvement of revenue accounting standards and documentation.
