Job Description
Behavioral Scientist
The Predictive Index
Role Description The Predictive Index is seeking a Behavioral Scientist to own the scientific integrity of a new venture. You will work on a lean, fast-moving team to explore, validate, and build a new market. - Provide the scientific foundation and defensibility of the venture’s claims. - Apply industrial-organizational psychology — assessment science, team dynamics, leadership, engagement, and job fit — to product, positioning, and research decisions. - Design and validate any new psychometric instruments, scales, or scoring models required by the product. - Run applied research with pilot customers — criterion and construct validation, efficacy studies, norm development. - Translate peer-reviewed I/O and organizational behavior research into product features, UX, and go-to-market messaging. - Own the scientific defensibility of the venture’s claims — technical manuals, validity evidence, white papers. Qualifications - A PhD (or equivalent applied experience) in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Psychometrics, or a closely related field. - Deep hands-on experience in psychometric development: scale construction, IRT or CTT, validation design, and norm development. - Demonstrated ability to conduct applied validation research in real organizational settings. - Fluency translating rigorous science into language that product teams can build from and buyers can trust. - Comfort working at the frontier, where the research agenda, product roadmap, and go-to-market strategy are still being written. - Passion for using AI in every aspect of your work. - A builder’s mindset; ability to cover surface area beyond your title. Requirements - This is not a support role embedded in a large organization; you’ll be part of a small team operating like a venture-backed startup. - Report directly to the venture lead and collaborate with product, engineering, and go-to-market functions. - Position is geo-flexible for candidates with the right fit. - Exempt, salaried position ($120,000 - $140,000) with full access to PI’s benefits package, including unlimited PTO and 401(k). Benefits - Flexibility to work at the Westwood, MA headquarters, remotely, or a mix of both. - Unlimited PTO. - 401(k) plan. Company Description The Predictive Index is an award-winning best place to work, focused on “Better work, Better world.” We celebrate diverse backgrounds and encourage applications from underrepresented groups.
