SAP Solution Architect - Technical Lead

Role Description AdvanSix is seeking an experienced SAP Technical Lead to support the SAP CoE with strong Advanced Business Application Programming (ABAP) delivery leadership, clean core governance, and technical execution excellence. This role works in close partnership with Solution Architects (OTC, Supply Chain, Finance, etc.) and is accountable for BUILD and RUN of SAP technical assets across S/4HANA and adjoining platforms. This individual will lead ABAP delivery through offshore development teams, ensure adherence to SAP clean core principles, and act as the single point of coordination for technical execution, including collaboration with Basis, Security, and integration teams. Key Responsibilities - Technical Leadership & Delivery: - Serve as the technical execution lead for SAP S/4HANA enhancements, fixes, integrations, and improvements. - Lead and govern ABAP development delivered by offshore teams, ensuring quality, performance, and adherence to standards. - Review and approve technical designs, code quality, and transport readiness. - Partner closely with Solution Architects to translate functional designs into scalable technical solutions. - Ensure strong documentation, code reviews, and peer accountability across technical delivery. - Clean Core & Architecture Governance: - Enforce SAP clean core principles, minimizing custom objects and technical debt. - Advocate for standard SAP capabilities, BAdIs, APIs, CDS views, and extensions aligned with RISE strategy. - Establish and maintain technical design standards, integration standards, review checkpoints, and development guidelines. - Identify opportunities to refactor legacy custom code where it creates risk or instability. - RUN, Stability & Incident Support: - Support RUN operations by troubleshooting complex SAP technical issues across functional areas. - Partner with functional teams to perform deep root cause analysis, not surface-level fixes. - Strengthen technical monitoring, batch job reliability, and performance tuning. - Ensure smooth coordination during incidents, outages, and high-severity production issues. - Basis, Security & Platform Coordination: - Act as the technical SPOC for Basis and Security teams, coordinating activities such as: - Transports and environment readiness - Authorizations and role-related issues (functional collaboration) - System upgrades and patching cycles - Ensure technical dependencies are understood, planned, and communicated proactively. - Vendor & AMS Management: - Oversee offshore ABAP and technical AMS partners, holding them accountable for: - Delivery quality - Timeliness - Knowledge retention - Participate in vendor reviews, issue escalations, and continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. - 10+ years of SAP ABAP experience, including S/4HANA environments. - Proven experience leading ABAP, BTP (Integration suite/CPI) delivery via offshore or distributed teams. - Strong understanding of SAP extensibility options, integrations, and performance considerations. - Experience supporting both BUILD and RUN operations in a production SAP landscape. - Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Preferred Qualifications - Experience with SAP RISE environments and clean core implementations. - Exposure to SAP Security concepts, role design impacts, and SOX considerations. - Familiarity with SAP CPI, interfaces, and integration monitoring. - Experience working in manufacturing or regulated industries. Salary Range The salary range for this role is $130,700 to $196,100 annually.
