Role Description Coefficient Giving (formerly Open Philanthropy) is a philanthropic funder and advisor. Since 2014, we’ve directed over $5 billion in grants as part of our mission to help others as much as we can with the resources available to us. We work with a range of donors who share our commitment to cost-effective, high-impact giving. We’re hiring for multiple roles across several of our teams: - AI Governance & Policy: Works to shape the norms, policies, laws, and institutions that govern how the most capable AI systems are developed and deployed. - Short Timelines Special Projects: Focuses on driving forward new projects that aren't sufficiently covered or invested in by other teams at Coefficient Giving. - GCR Capacity Building: Focuses on growing and strengthening research fields related to navigating transformative AI. - Biosecurity and Pandemic Preparedness: Works to reduce the risk of catastrophic biological events. - GCR Executive Team: Oversees the entire department, sets strategy, and works to ensure the GCR division achieves its goal of preventing catastrophic harm. Qualifications - Familiarity with the global catastrophic risks ecosystem. - Ownership and agency. - Ambition and speed. - Social awareness and flexibility. - Critical thinking. - Good judgment. - Clear communication. Requirements - Prior experience in policy, particularly in a government role or at a think tank. - A technical background relevant to AI safety. - Experience working on AI governance or policy at a frontier AI company. - Fluency in Mandarin for the China specialist role. - Experience in biosecurity or related fields for the Biosecurity and Pandemic Preparedness team.
