Role Description The Port of Portland is hiring a PRINCIPAL ENTERPRISE APPLICATIONS ENGINEER . This role serves as the Port’s senior technical authority for enterprise applications and integration, guiding platform strategy, ensuring secure and cohesive system behavior, and maintaining data reliability across the enterprise environment. This position is responsible for building and configuring Application Performance Management tools. Implements standards and practices for the use of Application Performance Management tools. Designs algorithms, tools, and platforms to optimize the performance and reliability of Insperity’s enterprise software platforms. Designs and develops automation systems to detect, mitigate, and recover from adverse operating conditions. Responsibilities: - Reviews the strategy and vision from product owners and stakeholders to devise Service Level Objectives (SLO) and capture Service Level Indicators (SLI). - Works with product teams to ensure Service Level Agreements (SLA) are defined and setup appropriate monitoring for compliance with those SLAs. - Participates in system capacity planning, gathers operational and technical data and statistics for review, creates metrics and visualizations to facilitate planning necessary to reach business goals and objectives. - Defines enterprise standards and best practices around designing for performance, supportability, and reliability and scalability. - Works with other technical teams to implement standards and best practices in Application Performance Management into the software design development life cycle. - Works with product development teams to apply Application Performance Management considerations to product design decisions, both business and technical. - Builds, designs, and implements tools for use by software application support teams to alert and diagnose operational issues and deviations. - Collaborates with operational support teams to assess gaps in coverage and that support teams are properly equipped to stay ahead of potential system issues. - Works with other teams to understand production environment behaviors.
