Role Description Reporting to the Senior Manager, Projects and Optimization, the Senior Project Manager is a fully qualified, experienced professional responsible for leading complex capital and major maintenance projects across TerraForm Power’s renewable energy fleet. - Operate with a high degree of independence, applying deep technical, operational, and commercial expertise to solve diverse and non-routine problems. - Accountable for full lifecycle project delivery, exercising independent judgment in ambiguous situations. - Influence cross-functional stakeholders and external partners to achieve optimal outcomes. Key Responsibilities - Project Leadership & Execution: - Lead large-scale and complex capital and maintenance projects across all phases with full ownership and accountability. - Independently develop project scope, execution strategy, schedules, and budgets. - Evaluate risks and uncertainties and devise solutions where limited precedent exists. - Adapt standard methodologies and introduce new approaches to improve project outcomes. - Lead technical due diligence and integration efforts for acquisitions and new assets. - Advanced Problem Solving & Decision-Making: - Analyze complex project challenges involving multiple variables (technical, financial, operational). - Apply sophisticated analytical and problem-solving techniques to identify root causes and recommend solutions. - Make independent decisions with significant impact, escalating only at critical junctures. - Resolve issues creatively and recommend variations in execution strategy. - Contractor & Commercial Management: - Lead contractor selection, negotiation, and management with full accountability for performance outcomes. - Interpret and manage complex contract structures (EPC, supply, service agreements). - Resolve contractor disputes, performance gaps, and commercial risks. - Influence vendor and partner decisions through expertise and negotiation. - Health, Safety & Environmental (HSSE) Leadership: - Provide leadership in promoting and enforcing a strong safety culture across all projects. - Evaluate and address high-risk scenarios with sound judgment and proactive intervention. - Ensure compliance with all regulatory and company HSSE standards. - Financial Ownership & Reporting: - Own project financial performance, including forecasting, variance analysis, and cost optimization. - Evaluate trade-offs between cost, schedule, and operational impact to inform decision-making. - Deliver clear, concise reporting and insights to senior leadership. - Cross-Functional Leadership & Influence: - Lead coordination across internal functions (Operations, Engineering, Procurement, Legal, Finance, HSSE). - Build and enhance relationships with senior stakeholders, often requiring influence and persuasion. - Adapt communication style to different audiences, including technical teams and executive leadership. - Provide guidance and recommendations on complex matters to stakeholders. - Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing: - Provide informal leadership, guidance, and mentorship to Project Managers and junior team members. - Share expertise and contribute to development of best practices, tools, and standards. - Support capability building across the project management function. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field (or equivalent experience). - Minimum 5+ years of relevant project management experience (aligned with Aon P3 expectations). - Proven experience leading complex, cross-functional projects independently. - Strong understanding of renewable energy, infrastructure, or power generation projects. - Demonstrated ability to solve non-routine and ambiguous problems. - Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred. - Ability to travel approximately 30%–50%.
