• We are seeking a talented Staff-level AI Developer to join our applied AI team. • In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and scaling our AI systems that solve complex problems related to compensation and compliance. • You’ll work closely in a cross-functional squad that includes data scientists, software engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders. • You will have the opportunity to work at the forefront of AI innovation–exploring emerging tools and techniques while translating them into production-ready solutions that deliver real business impact. • Design, develop, and deploy production AI/ML systems that deliver business impact to our customers. • Build and maintain LLM-based applications leveraging context engineering techniques and toolsets. • Collaborate with data scientists to transition approved proof of concepts from a research environment into production. • Integrate AI capabilities into existing products and services through APIs and microservices. • Design and implement evaluation frameworks to assess model accuracy, reliability, and task-specific performance. • Monitor production performance and implement optimizations based on evaluation metrics and real-world usage patterns. • Stay up-to-date with the rapid changes in the AI landscape (e.g., new foundation models, quantization techniques) and prototype new ideas quickly.

• Own product strategy, specs, and QA in a hands-on PM role • Lead a small, remote pod, blend technical depth with real customer impact • Own the roadmap. Define what gets built and why. Prioritize ruthlessly, kill low-leverage work, and protect your engineers’ focus • Write specs that are hypotheses, not instructions. Define the problem before prescribing the solution • Engage stakeholders. Synthesize signal from the CEO, go-to-market, and customer success into decisions with explicit tradeoffs • Read and navigate the codebase. Python/Django backend, React/Next.js/TypeScript frontend • Own QA end-to-end. Write test plans, execute regression passes, and sign off on deployments • Run sprint ceremonies. Standups, planning, retros — lean and outcome-focused.

• Take ownership of core product components from concept to deployment. • Collaborate with the Product team to design scalable and maintainable architectures. • Participate in (and lead) code reviews and ensure best practices across the team. • Mentor junior and mid-level developers, providing guidance and fostering growth. • Contribute to hiring and onboarding new team members. • Maintain high code quality and application performance in a fast-paced, high-traffic environment. • Set up and improve CI/CD pipelines and development workflows. • Monitor, debug, and improve the stability and scalability of the system. • Help shape the engineering culture as the team grows.
