Field Service Technician, Class B

• Provide hands-on field service support for power transformers • Help customers install, maintain, and restore critical electrical assets • Interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, follow technical manuals • Complete detailed service activities that support equipment reliability and safe operation • Perform on-site and remote service activities including installation, commissioning, maintenance, repairs, upgrades, retrofits, and replacements • Support customer operations by addressing technical issues and anticipating service needs • Read and work from electrical and mechanical drawings, instructions, and technical manuals • Complete internal transformer work such as bushing connections, lead clearance, tapping, crimping, taping, and contoured joints • Repair, re-gasket, assemble, and disassemble transformer equipment as directed • Operate and maintain vacuum oil processing and oil handling equipment with direction • Coordinate logistics for service jobs, including tools, resources, and spare parts

Job Requirements

  • Associate Degree with 2 years of professional work experience or High School Diploma/GED with 5 years of professional work experience
  • Broad knowledge of transformer field service operations and transformer field testing
  • Familiarity with transformer installation and assembly, vacuum and oil processing, and internal transformer components
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel up to 85%
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs and climbing ladders

Role Description The Senior Field Support Specialist represents both Anthony and Hillphoenix brands, creating and maintaining relationships with our Customers, Dealers, and regional contractors. This position is responsible for overseeing the Customer’s experience post shipment, supervising regional contractors to ensure prompt response, primarily focused on issue identification and resolution, new equipment start-ups, and other engagements as required. This is a key role in gathering information in the field to ensure rapid and complete resolution to quality issues and help identify potential design changes. - Utilizes knowledge of refrigeration, mechanical, hydronic, and electrical machinery to make independent decisions about repairs, modifications, or updates to DFR equipment, by giving direction to the end user or contractor. - Trains regional contractors and dealers on installation and maintenance of equipment; identifying broad training opportunities and relaying back to training department. - Supervises installation/service representatives with repairs, modifications, or updates to DFR equipment when required. - Ensures DFR quality standards are being met through Customer visits and follow-ups. - Works with product management, engineering, and quality to define proper maintenance schedules for DFR equipment for inclusion in technical and installation manuals. - Ensures regional contractors and dealers are following safety guidelines when overseeing installations, start-ups, re-models, and investigations. - Oversees new equipment start-ups as needed to ensure successful installation and operation, especially with new products. - Systematically diagnoses field issues, creating thorough field reports that include the process used to diagnose, the measurements and observations collected, and finally developing a robust conclusion with recommendations on actions to resolve; this includes scheduling and coordinating work with 3rd party service providers. - Oversees contractor engagement for assigned region. - Serves as subject matter expert for assigned region & manages the communication between the field, the internal team(s), field sales distributors and end-users. - Identify quality and performance trends and report out to appropriate organization to assure root cause problem resolutions. - Minimum 80% travelling requirements. Qualifications - High School diploma with ten (10) or more years of relevant experience and or five (5) years in the supermarket refrigeration industry. - Journeyman refrigeration certificate may be required in some regions. About the Role We are seeking a motivated and high-performing Junior Field Technician to join our team in New Zealand, supporting the maintenance and performance of Halter’s on-farm hardware infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring our systems are operating efficiently, resolving technical issues quickly, and helping to refine and improve the reliability of our hardware across our customer network. Note this role is based in the Waikato and NZ wide travel is required. This is a hands-on position that requires strong technical ability, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to field operations. You may find yourself maintaining and upgrading infrastructure one day and deploying new equipment on-farm the next. You’ll be the go-to person for ensuring everything runs smoothly, delivering exceptional service and support to our customers. As a Junior Field Technician, you’ll work closely with our hardware, product, and customer success teams, ensuring effective collaboration and a strong feedback loop between the field and our Auckland HQ. This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact in transforming New Zealand’s dairy and livestock industry through world-class agri-tech innovation. What your day could look like - Infrastructure Maintenance: Oversee the upkeep and repair of Halter’s infrastructure to ensure seamless operations. - Hardware Diagnosis: Diagnose any issues with our hardware and feed this information back to the relevant team. - Versatility: Ability to transition smoothly between tasks, from repairing and upgrading infrastructure to delivering towers and collars as needed. - Deployment Support: Provide critical on-site support during farm deployments if needed, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring successful installations. - On-call: Be part of the global on-call roster to support tower-related incidents and proactively find solutions in a timely manner. - Collaboration: Work closely across all of the Halter teams to ensure alignment and successful customer outcomes. - Problem-Solving: Address and resolve technical challenges promptly and effectively, ensuring minimal disruption to farm operations. - Adaptability: Be prepared to manage a variety of tasks, often simultaneously, to meet the dynamic needs of the role. - Data Analysis: Ability to collect, interpret, and analyze data from our hardware, optimize processes, and inform decision-making. You'll ensure that actionable insights are extracted to improve operational efficiency and resolve issues proactively. - Development and management of a maintenance system for our NZ market. - Travel: travel within the Waikato and Bay of Plenty region + some NZ wide travel will be required.
