Senior Product Group Manager

• Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling disciplinary actions, as required • Oversees and leads a highly complex and diverse product function for an area of significant complexity or scope while growing talent, developing skills and capabilities to achieve career goals, support project/initiative success and achieve business results • Generally accountable for a significant product management area that typically has enterprise wide impact or accountability • Enterprise or functional expert, requiring broad managerial and deep specialized knowledge at the enterprise, business, regulatory and industry levels • Leads and manages teams handling mass or niche products/segment suites, with moderate to high levels of size/complexity of the product groups/segments • Provides coaching, mentorship and guidance to practitioners, business, executives within area of expertise • Manages and oversees the overall discipline and strategy for the respective areas while aligning to the enterprise best practices • Facilitates key strategic discussions and provides thought leadership to executive audience (output may include strategic roadmap and/or deliverables/frameworks/short to long term goals etc.) • Sets overall team direction and collaborates with others to execute on common goals • Focus on longer-range planning for functional area • Oversees product teams and ensures the simple and efficient delivery of products and services to the customer • Develops and implements products/policies and procedures in such a way that it enhances the end to end customer experience (including training, enhancement and irritant reduction) while achieving business objectives • Develops and manages the product development calendar for the team and oversees the successful and seamless execution of deliverables • Builds and maintains effective relationships with sales distribution, key internal stakeholders and/or external partners to ensure that customer needs are considered in strategic decisions and in the development of options, solutions and alternatives • Directs market research projects and recommends methods for growing existing markets and developing opportunities for customer products and services

Job Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree or product management certificate and/or 10+ years relevant experience
  • Previous Product experience required
  • Experience in leading strategy strongly recommended
  • Advanced knowledge of and ability to conduct product research, product analysis and development, forecasting, pricing, competitive intelligence
  • Knowledge of current and emerging competitor and market trends
  • Advanced ability to lead, plan, implement and evaluate program/project activities to ensure completion of product initiatives
  • Ability to contribute to strategic direction of the product management function and provide advice to senior leadership
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships across teams and functions
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement in making decisions
  • Skill in preparing and managing budgets, P&L and resource allocation
  • Knowledge of and/or skill in using analytical software tools, data analysis methods and reporting techniques
  • Skill in using computer applications including MS Office

Responsibilities include creating and implementing strategies in retirement, risk management, tax, estate, and investment planning. Focus provides team members the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule. Our hybrid model is defined as 3 days in office work required per week, while giving team members the option to work remotely 2 days per week, or as assigned by their team leader.
