Title: Azure Cloud Engineer Location: Arlington, VA, US Employee Type: Contract Remote: Yes Job Type: Infrastructure and Security Pay Range: $60 - $70 per hour Job Description: Job#: 3031912 Azure Engineer (100% Remote) - Secret Clearance + CompTIA Security+ Location: 100% Remote (U.S.) Clearance Required: Active Secret Certification Required: CompTIA Security+ Employment Type: Contract Project Duration: Initial 6‑month cloud migration with strong extension potential Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Azure Engineer to support a large‑scale Azure cloud migration and system refresh initiative. This role will play a critical part in designing, building, securing, and supporting Azure infrastructure as the client transitions workloads to the cloud over the next six months. The position is fully remote and supports a federal environment, requiring an active Secret clearance and Security+ certification. Key Responsibilities - Design, build, and configure Azure infrastructure including Azure Virtual Machines, VNETs, NSGs, storage accounts, Azure Load Balancer, and Azure PaaS services - Deploy and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and infrastructure automation practices - Monitor system performance, availability, and security using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Azure Security Center, and Application Insights - Troubleshoot Azure infrastructure, networking, and platform issues in a production environment - Support automation and scripting efforts using PowerShell and Bash - Implement cloud security controls, governance policies, and best practices aligned to federal requirements - Collaborate with architects, DevOps, and security teams during the cloud migration lifecycle Required Technical Skills - Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure core services - Strong experience with Azure compute, storage, networking, and PaaS offerings - Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automation - Proficiency with PowerShell and/or Bash scripting - Knowledge of cloud security, identity management, governance, and monitoring - Experience supporting production cloud environments and troubleshooting complex issues Required Qualifications - Active Secret Clearance (required to start) - CompTIA Security+ (required) - Experience supporting or migrating systems to Azure in an enterprise or government environment - Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a 100% remote setting Apex Systems is a world-class IT services company that serves thousands of clients across the globe.
