State Manager

Role Description The State Manager role is responsible for tailoring our auto insurance product for select new states as well as managing several in-market states to ensure our product is compliant and expected to achieve profit and growth targets. This person also monitors key performance metrics to identify and execute needed changes to the product. - Develop the strategy and execution of state product launches (forms, underwriting, rates/rules) and associated regulatory filings - Research state legislative and regulatory requirements and advise actions needed to be compliant - Perform analysis of competitor offerings and pricing - Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to execute operational changes - Communicate business requirements to Technology partners - Analyze the drivers of P&L (e.g. conversion, average premium, mix of business, retention, loss ratio, loss trend) and develop strategies that improve outcomes - Develop hypotheses and seek out new ideas and approaches to business issues Qualifications - Experience with complex auto insurance states - Passion for telematics - Quantitative acumen (including pricing) - Demonstrated track record of solving problems independently and driving change - Ability to operate within a fast-paced, collaborative environment Company Description At General Motors Insurance, we are building an Insurtech business that will reinvent auto insurance. Qualifications - Typically 6+ years related experience and a Bachelor's Degree or 4+ years related experience with Master’s degree. - 2-3 years experience with cost savings initiatives and capital budgeting. - Capability of understanding and communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical individuals. - Understand how to drive decision making through data analytics. - Create executive level content to communicate key strategies and business observations. - Experience leading people in an individual or front-line leadership capacity.
