Role Description We are seeking a skilled Kubernetes Administrator and Application Developer to join our team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building cloud-native Kubernetes applications and administration of Kubernetes clusters, particularly with RH OpenShift, in bare-metal environments. - Collaborate with application development teams to deploy, scale, and manage cloud-native applications. - Administer and maintain Kubernetes clusters on bare metal and OpenShift platforms. - Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize cluster performance and reliability. - Automate operational tasks using scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Ansible, Helm). - Ensure security best practices and compliance standards within the clusters. Qualifications - Requires minimum 5 years job related work experience in excess of degree requirements. - Bachelor's Degree - Computer Science or related field (Required). - Or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required. - Proven experience developing and deploying cloud-native Kubernetes applications. - Scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation. - Linux administration skills (preferred). - Hands-on experience administering Kubernetes clusters (bare metal and/or public cloud environments). - Hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (preferred). - Solid understanding of networking, storage, and security within Kubernetes. Role Description The Infrastructure Systems Engineering team is in the midst of building our next-generation private cloud infrastructure as part of a greenfield initiative to in-house existing internal use cases on public cloud and support new initiatives. The historical deployment primarily supported our database test system: A system that runs over 7.25 million tests per month, writes petabytes to storage daily, and we’re currently scaling multiple times in the next year alone. As a Software Engineer, Private Cloud Systems, you will be tasked with the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of systems at lower abstraction levels. You’ll collaborate closely with a small, highly skilled team to drive a careful balance between battle-hardened best practices and creative innovation in an environment that embraces working from first principles, celebration of failure, and egoless technical discussion. Qualifications - At least 5 years of experience developing and optimizing systems software. - Deep expertise in at least one of: - virtualization - storage - service modeling & REST API/SDK generation - scientific or high-performance computing - kernel development - Natural curiosity or drive to learn about new or adjacent technologies. - Experience designing, developing, and/or troubleshooting distributed systems. - Comfort with at least one systems programming language (C/C++, golang) and one scripting language (python, bash). - Comfort with shells on *nix family systems. - B.S. degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related field. • Collaborate closely with client stakeholders to understand their business objectives and technical requirements, providing expert advice and designing best-practice cloud solutions on Azure. • Lead the hands-on implementation and deployment of cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles with tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation. • Architect and build the foundational cloud services required to support modern data platforms, including data lakes, data warehouses, and machine learning environments. • Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate the deployment, testing, and integration of infrastructure and applications. • Provide ongoing operational support and maintenance for client cloud environments as part of our managed services offering, ensuring reliability, security, and performance. • Implement and enforce cloud security best practices, cost management strategies, and governance policies to ensure client environments are secure, compliant, and cost-effective. • Assist the sales team in a technical capacity during pre-sales engagements, including contributing to proposals and presenting technical solutions to prospective clients. • Act as a subject matter expert within the business, mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to internal best practices and knowledge bases.

• Support the management of user permissions across multiple tools and systems, including AWS IAM. • Help maintain and improve our security tooling, including endpoint protection solutions and infrastructure monitoring tools that help protect our cloud environment and internal systems. • Assist with monitoring security alerts and investigating unusual events. • Review infrastructure-related Terraform pull requests to help ensure new resources are deployed securely and follow cloud security best practices. • Monitor relevant security advisories and threat intelligence feeds.
