Role Description We’re looking for a creative storyteller who can turn blocks and biomes into rich, immersive experiences. If you love crafting dialogue, lore, and quests that make players feel something — this is your canvas. This position starts as an unpaid volunteer role with the potential to develop into a paid contractor position. - Create and maintain the lore foundation of the server - Write immersive dialogue, quest texts, books, and item/tooltips that enrich player experience - Work with game designers to ensure story aligns with gameplay, locations, and reward loops - Build branching questlines and narrative structures using tools or structured documents - Develop seasonal storylines, world events, and evolving lore entries over time - Maintain internal documentation such as a living lore bible and style guide - Participate in playtests and adjust narrative elements based on pacing and player feedback - Ensure tone, language, and formatting are polished and immersive across all narrative surfaces - Support worldbuilding during map development, including naming, signage, and world detail Qualifications - Strong creative writing skills and the ability to build immersive stories, characters, and settings - Deep understanding of Minecraft: Java Edition, especially what makes in-game narratives engaging - Experience writing quest texts, item lore, codex entries, or NPC dialogue with clear structure and tone - Ability to develop large-scale story arcs as well as short-form lore for signs, books, or events - Comfortable working with structured narrative formats, flowcharts, or branching dialogues - Creative mindset with a strong sense of pacing, worldbuilding, and emotional impact - Familiarity with Minecraft UI limitations (e.g. chat length, book size, tooltip text) - Ability to match tone and style to different factions, settings, or seasonal events - Strong communication and collaboration skills to align with designers and builders - Organized approach to versioning, naming conventions, and maintaining lore consistency - Optional but valuable: experience writing for games, tabletop RPGs, or serialized fiction - Expected availability of around 10–15 hours per week Benefits - A unique opportunity to be part of a brand-new Minecraft network from the very beginning - Creative ownership of major story arcs, characters, and in-game narrative structures - A collaborative team of builders and devs who support and value your creative work - Clear narrative briefs, feedback cycles, and structured tooling to make writing efficient - A motivated and friendly staff team that values communication, transparency, and respect - Fully remote – work from anywhere Company Description We’re building a diverse and inclusive team culture. The Creative Designer will set the tone for designed content for the website, social media, ads, as well as videos and photography. Job Overview Statement You'll be responsible for producing content that matches the company's brand, aesthetic, and marketing strategy, including social media graphics, email templates, website design, exhibition support, and promotional design needs.
