Role Description The Senior Director, Enterprise Strategy Execution & Integration serves as the Chief of Staff's primary partner for enterprise strategy stewardship, execution oversight, and cross-organizational integration. Reporting directly to the Chief of Staff, this role ensures that IEEE's strategic plan, Board and presidential direction, and innovation investments are translated into coordinated, disciplined execution across the organization. This role combines enterprise strategy stewardship with execution integration. It maintains the integrity of the strategic plan while ensuring that priorities are actionable, sequenced appropriately, and aligned across organizational units. The position operates with delegated authority from the Chief of Staff and serves as the central integrator across strategy, innovation, governance, and execution. The role does not own delivery within organizational units. Its purpose is to ensure alignment, clarity, accountability, and follow-through at the enterprise level. Core Purpose: To ensure IEEE's strategy, Board direction, and innovation investments are coherent, prioritized, measurable, and executed effectively across the organization. Key Responsibilities - Enterprise Strategy Stewardship & Planning - Provide staff leadership for the enterprise strategic planning process, including development, refresh cycles, and long-range planning - Maintain the integrity, relevance, and usability of the strategic plan, including goals, priorities, and success measures - Ensure strategy is responsive to external trends, organizational performance, and Board direction - Board & Governance Alignment - Serve as the primary staff liaison to Board-level strategy and alignment committees - Translate Board intent, resolutions, and guidance into clear enterprise priorities and execution expectations - Support governance bodies with strategy materials, insights, and progress reporting - Enterprise Strategy Execution & Oversight - Translate enterprise strategy and presidential priorities into executable plans, milestones, and success measures - Establish and oversee enterprise dashboards, performance tracking, and reporting mechanisms - Monitor execution progress, identify risks and misalignment, and surface tradeoffs requiring leadership attention - Ensure initiatives are sequenced appropriately relative to organizational capacity and dependencies - Cross-Organizational Integration & Prioritization - Serve as the enterprise integrator across organizational units, strategy, innovation, and presidential priorities - Facilitate alignment across competing priorities, dependencies, and resource constraints - Reduce duplication, execution friction, and fragmentation across the organization - Promote a shared understanding of enterprise priorities and One IEEE objectives - Innovation Governance & Integration - Provide enterprise-level integration and governance support for innovation activities, ensuring alignment to strategy - Partner with Innovation leadership to ensure clear criteria for advancing, pausing, or stopping initiatives - Ensure innovation efforts transition into execution pathways within organizational units, not isolated pilots - Committee & Enterprise Execution Support - Provide staff leadership for strategy, alignment, and innovation-related committees as execution oriented bodies - Ensure clear workplans, deliverables, and accountability mechanisms - Translate committee outputs into coordinated enterprise action - Change Management & Execution Discipline - Lead enterprise approaches to change management, including readiness, adoption, and sustained follow-through - Maintain execution momentum across leadership transitions, presidential cycles, and competing priorities - Support senior leaders in navigating execution challenges without assuming ownership of their domains - Presidential & Board-Directed Initiatives - Lead execution of cross-cutting initiatives commissioned by the Board or President - Translate direction into structured plans and ensure follow-through beyond initial approval - Strategic Counsel & Leadership Support - Serve as a trusted advisor to the Chief of Staff, Presidents, and senior leadership - Provide candid assessments of execution gaps, risks, and organizational dynamics - Integrate insights from strategy, governance, and execution performance to inform decision-making - Leadership & Team Oversight - Oversee strategy, planning, and integration functions, ensuring clarity of roles and high-quality outputs - Establish standards, expectations, and operating discipline across the strategy execution function Qualifications - Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience - Master's or other advanced degree (MBA, MPA, or other relevant master's degree) Requirements - 15-20 years of experience in enterprise strategy, execution oversight, governance, or complex organizational leadership - Demonstrated success operating in highly matrixed, federated environments without direct authority - Strong experience supporting Boards and senior volunteer leadership - Proven ability to translate strategy into execution and drive alignment across diverse stakeholders - Experience integrating cross-cutting initiatives, including innovation or new program development - Exceptional judgment, credibility, and ability to navigate organizational complexity - Strong balance of strategic thinking and disciplined execution Benefits - Prosci Change Management certification upon hire
