Role Description Our Field Service Coordinators employ their technical and customer service experience by collaborating with healthcare professionals and technicians. This opportunity supports scheduling needs for field service personnel performing software updates in various healthcare-related facilities. This is a remote work from home position, and the project is set to be completed by the end of December 2026. The opportunity has flexible training that will grow with you as you learn the role. Initial efforts will be focused on facility outreach, and as your confidence in the systems and processes grow, scheduling training will begin. - Lead, facilitate, coordinate, and track day-to-day activities required to ensure the customers’ field service needs are completed on time, successfully, and in a manner consistent with organizational goals. - Contact healthcare and customer facilities to coordinate assignments for supporting field team members. - Manage customer expectations of product and services. - Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail by ensuring accuracy and completeness in all tasks, including reviewing documentation, validating data, and identifying inconsistencies before final submission. - Upholds high accuracy standards in client-facing systems and communications, confirming product details, identifiers, and required regulatory language before distribution. - Collaborate with team members and leadership to solve complex issues and improve processes. Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent required. - 1-year relevant experience as a field service coordinator, scheduler, project coordinator, related customer service, dispatch or equivalent experience required. - Ability to work independently and in a team environment and engage with and escalate to team leadership for sophisticated solving and resolution of issues as needed required. - Must be able to work within defined processes and methodologies with minimal degree of supervision. - Must maintain and comply with quality and compliance policies and regulations in documentation and communication. - Experience working in Salesforce is a plus, experience with MS Office is required. - Strong verbal and written communication skills required. - Must be located within the United States and have access to home internet. Location/Division Specific Information The ImmunoDiagnostics Division (IDD) develops, manufactures, and markets complete blood test systems to support the clinical diagnosis and follow-up of allergy and autoimmune diseases. The allergy and autoimmunity product lines operate on a common automated instrument platform, Phadia Laboratory Systems, which supports both productivity and cost efficiencies in clinical laboratories around the world. This is field-based role with preference for candidates located in the Columbus, OH area. How will you make an impact? IDD Field Service Engineers (FSEs) provide exceptional on-site service on highly complex and integrated systems within hospitals and commercial reference laboratories in their assigned service territories. This is accomplished through technical expertise, teamwork, and superior customer service. What will you do? - Provide onsite service including repairs, preventive maintenance, upgrades, and installation of IDD analyzers. - Travel, on short notice, to customer sites to resolve reported issues or support other field service personnel. - Observe and follow Good Documentation Practices (GDPs) and internal policies and processes as required for field service reports and job-related submissions pertaining to spare parts: ordering, usage, returns, physical count, etc. - Display professionalism, understanding, tact, fairness, and technical knowledge in all customer interactions. - Collaborate with internal partners to resolve customer issues and improve processes. - Provide remote and onsite service training or assistance to Biomedical Engineering Technicians (BMET) or advanced operators. - Increase technical competency level servicing instruments by completing in-person or online training courses. - Manage travel expenses and follow Thermo Fisher Scientific travel policies and guidelines. - May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned. The Field Service Engineer is responsible for customer satisfaction in all aspects of the job. The Field Service Technician (FST) is primarily engaged in completing preventive maintenance tasks on Varian Medical Systems (VMS) linear accelerator and imaging systems, ensuring that our customers’ equipment operates efficiently. Job Role: - Proactively perform specific periodic and preventative maintenance activities on Linear Accelerators and associated medical equipment outside of normal business hours per documented procedures. - Manage time and maintain a daily/weekly schedule to effectively perform preventative maintenance on systems throughout the service region. - Understand and recognize the need to escalate incidents when necessary and/or request additional assistance from more tenured representatives or leadership. - Maintain administrative duties, which includes timely completion and submission of field service work orders and expense reports along with management of consignment (parts) and other required documentation according to VMS procedures. - Communicate required follow up actions to primary assigned representative. Minimum Required Skills and Knowledge: - Excellent time management and professional communication skills both internal to Varian and externally to customers. - Ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships through utilization of strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. - Frequent use and application of technical documentation (both electronic and paper documents), standards, principles, concepts, and techniques in the field. - Basic knowledge of electronic, electro-mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and plumbing systems. Familiar with basic operation of handheld test equipment used for verification/checkout of electronic equipment to include Digital Multimeter (DVM/DMM), and Digital Oscilloscope. - Basic technical experience with micro-computers/PC based systems. - Basic technical knowledge and experience with simple hand tools. - Maintain Vendor Credentialing status and compliance with both company and customer defined requirements necessary to gain customer site access, unless prohibited by law.
