Job Description

Full-Stack Engineer

sofatutor

• Build and release features on visitor-facing pages and conversion funnels. • Implement A/B tests cleanly and reliably, based on hypotheses provided by our Growth Specialists. • Use AI tools daily — prompt, guide, validate — and review AI-generated code with the same care as your own. • Write and maintain unit and integration tests (e.g., Capybara, Cypress). • Own critical systems in the visitor journey: maintenance, reliability, and incident response.

Job Requirements

  • 2–3 years of hands-on engineering experience in web development — enough to ship production-ready code independently from day one.
  • Comfortable across the stack (HAML, CSS, JavaScript, Ruby).
  • Strong eye for code review and QA — you spot what’s off, whether it’s your code or AI’s.
  • You actively use AI in your daily work and have clear opinions on where it helps, where it falls short, and how to review its output before it ships.
  • Pragmatic — excited by focused, high-impact work on a clean stack, not by chasing the newest framework or the most complex architectural puzzle.
  • Very good written and spoken English.

Benefits

  • Flexible work: Enjoy flexible hours and our remote-first model (including the option to work from EU countries for up to 180 days per year), so you can organize your life in a way that suits you best.
  • Remote work support: To help you set up your ideal remote workspace, we offer up to €100 every two years for home-office equipment. Basic technical equipment such as a laptop, headset, monitor etc. will be provided by us.
  • Mobility & independence: We support your mobility with public transport subsidies or a Swapfiets bike — in Berlin or another city.
  • Team spirit & events: Community matters to us! Join regular team events, both online and in person at our Berlin office.
  • Volunteering & extra time off: Get two additional paid days off per year for voluntary work — plus paid time off on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
  • Fitness & mental wellbeing: Stay active with a membership for Urban Sports Club or a local gym. For mental health support, you get free access to the Bloom platform.
  • Attractive discounts: Enjoy discounts through FutureBens and Corporate Benefits, plus exclusive offers for friends and family on our learning platform.
  • Flexible perks: With the givve benefits card, you receive tax-free perks that you can spend flexibly in your region.

• Design, build, and maintain reliable microservices within a large-scale distributed architecture using Go for backend APIs and Angular for frontend applications. • Develop and maintain RESTful APIs with OpenAPI/Swagger specifications, ensuring robust service-to-service communication and integration. • Build scalable Angular UI applications and contribute to shared component libraries that support high-quality, consistent user experiences across the platform. • Work within a microservices ecosystem where each service is independently deployable, using Kubernetes/Helm for orchestration and deployment. • Implement comprehensive testing strategies using Ginkgo for Go services (unit, integration, smoke tests) and Jest/Cypress for Angular applications. • Take ownership of complex technical challenges across the full stack, making architectural decisions that span multiple microservices, and contribute to the full software lifecycle — from sprint planning and ticket refinement to implementation, peer reviews, and demos. • Drive technical initiatives and influence technical direction across the platform, evaluating tradeoffs and introducing improvements that benefit multiple teams. • Use AI as a force multiplier.
