Sr. Backend JS Developer As a Senior Back-End JavaScript Developer, you will be an integral part of our development team. You will be instrumental in the architecture and design of the entire platform, built from the ground up to be flexible, modular, and reusable. You will be building and maintaining this solution using TypeScript in a NodeJS environment, adhering to clean code standards and comprehensive documentation practices. Building this from the start will allow you to decide what new technologies to use while still adhering to ambitious delivery timelines. You will be part of a multidimensional development team, working closely with other back-end developers as well as front-end developers (both web and mobile). You will work closely with the CTO to design the solution and establish timelines, along with the Engineering Manager and the Software Architect to bring your ideas to life. You will also work with the Senior Product Manager to discuss technical solutions to new user features and develop the ones that end up being pursued. We believe good developers need clear requirements, but also focused time and space to do their best work. Accordingly, you vocalize when you need to clarify uncertain requirements, you help find solutions to translate our designers' specifications into working features, and determine what work setting works best for you to get the job done. YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The primary responsibilities of this role are to: - Work closely with the development and product teams - Participate in daily scrums and weekly sprint meetings - Play a fundamental role in the design and maintenance of our backend - Actively build the APIs (TypeScript/NodeJS) - Write and execute tests - Peer review code from other members of the team - Support the planning, feature estimation, and scoping of development work - Willingness to work in a fast-paced collaborative team environment - Effective at driving short-term actions that are consistent with long-term goals WHO YOU ARE Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following: Required: - 3+ years working in the ag-tech industry. We are looking for a developer with proven agricultural experience for this role - - Candidates with experience within the agricultural sustainability sector are preferred - 8+ years of demonstrated JavaScript back-end development experience - 8+ years of working with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL - Detailed understanding of REST, GraphQL, and event-based systems - 7+ years of experience with AWS-hosted web applications - 5+ years with caching, preferably using Redis - Experience and solid understanding of the OAuth 2.0 protocol - Experience working in an Agile Delivery model - Experience working in a Continuous Deployment model - Experience with building, optimizing, and managing Docker images - Experience with container orchestration technologies such as AWS ECS or Kubernetes - Experience creating, maintaining, and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines, preferably using GitHub Actions Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately $120-170k. The I&C software team has strong interfaces with electronic hardware design and plant system operations. This role requires technical problem solving, strong software skills and effective communication/collaboration with other teams within the GVH business functions. Job Description Essential Responsibilities The I&C Embedded Lead Software Engineer is responsible for the delivery of high-quality engineering software. Work scope typically includes the following essential responsibilities: - Develop creative solutions and reduce complexity to create accurate and effective solutions for complex engineering problems. - Typical software activities will include preparing design specifications, developing software in C Language, performing module testing, and integration testing of the design. Performing Code Reviews and verifications of Design Specifications and Reports. - Engage customers to define scope, review results, and discuss technical risks. - Work with the technical leader to establish an effective work plan, including time estimates, schedule estimates, requirements and work processes. - Apply engineering fundamentals and 1st order engineering principles to establish and/or confirm expected performance. - Provide clear and complete analysis documentation in accordance with GE engineering procedures. - Manage time effectively to provide quality deliverables within the expected project timeline.
