Job Description
VP of Strategic Finance
Nevoya
About Nevoya: Nevoya is North America's leading next-generation electric trucking carrier, transforming logistics through AI-native operations and relentless customer focus. The company builds and uses proprietary technology to deliver zero-emissions carrier services to Fortune 500 shippers with superior economics and service to legacy diesel operators. The company has operations in California and Texas, and is backed by globally-renowned investors including Lowercarbon Capital. About The Role: Nevoya is seeking a seasoned VP of Strategic Finance to serve as a key financial architect during pivotal stages of our growth. Reporting directly to the CEO, this leader will own the financial narrative of the business, translating complex data into strategic insight that drives board-level decisions, investor confidence, and operational excellence. This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someone who is equally comfortable in the weeds of a financial model as they are presenting to the board. You will be the first dedicated strategic finance hire, which means you will be building the function from scratch, creating the models, processes, and frameworks that will underpin how Nevoya makes decisions as we scale. As we continue to expand our go-to-market motion and deepen our product capabilities, the VP of Strategic Finance will play a central role in ensuring the business is built on a rigorous financial foundation. You will bring structure to ambiguity, operate with a builder mentality, and communicate the story of our business with clarity and conviction. What You'll Do: - Personally build and maintain the company's core financial model, including revenue forecasting, scenario planning, and long-range planning - Own the annual budgeting process and quarterly re-forecasting in close partnership with department heads - Serve as the primary financial thought partner to the leadership team, delivering actionable analysis and recommendations on a day-to-day basis - Lead investor relations support, including preparation of board materials, investor updates, and fundraising data rooms - Design and build a metrics and reporting framework from the ground up, establishing the KPIs and operational dashboards that give leadership real-time visibility into business performance - Construct and manage headcount planning models and total compensation analysis - Develop pipeline analysis, quota modeling, and go-to-market ROI frameworks - Evaluate strategic opportunities including new markets, partnerships, and potential M&A through rigorous, hands-on financial analysis - Translate financial data into compelling narratives for internal leadership and external stakeholders - Build the FP&A infrastructure, tooling, and processes that will support the company through its next stages of growth What You'll Bring To The Table: - 6 or more years of experience across investment banking, private equity, venture capital, or FP&A at a high-growth startup - A true builder mentality with a track record of creating financial models, processes, and reporting from scratch rather than inheriting existing infrastructure - Deep expertise building three-statement financial models and operating models with minimal oversight - Experience designing KPI frameworks and management reporting that translate business activity into clear, decision-ready insight - Experience supporting or directly participating in fundraising processes, including Series A, B, or beyond - Demonstrated ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to executive and board-level audiences - Proven ability to operate independently, prioritize effectively, and thrive in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment - High proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets with experience in FP&A platforms - A collaborative, low-ego approach with genuine enthusiasm for building something meaningful from the ground up Desired Experience: - MBA from a top-tier program or equivalent advanced degree - Investment banking background, particularly from a top-tier firm - Background in logistics, supply chain, or transportation technology sectors - Experience at a company that successfully navigated a Series B or Series C raise At Nevoya, we believe diverse teams build better solutions. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer and are committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all employees. We consider all qualified applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic. If you're excited about our mission but your experience doesn't align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be the right candidate for this or another role. If you have any other questions please email our Recruiting Team directly @ careers@nevoya.com
