Lead Architect, Power Platform

Engineer Up

Role Description We're hiring a Lead Power Platform Architect who knows the Microsoft Power Platform ecosystem inside and out, can hold their own in React and TypeScript, and has led technical teams and large engagements before. In this role, you will be embedded with a well-known national restaurant brand, inheriting and optimizing existing Power Apps, building new features, and leading a pod of engineers. This role will require the candidate to work East Coast hours. Responsibilities - Maintaining and optimizing legacy Power Apps with focus on performance tuning and code refactoring - Mentoring and providing technical leadership to a pod of Senior Power Platform developers, including code reviews and architecture guidance - Full solution design for client and pre-sales work (90% delivery / 10% leadership) - Ability to lead $1M+ engagements and be the subject matter expert providing the technical standpoint - Architecting and implementing complex Power Automate workflows with advanced data transformations and external API integrations - Designing and developing scalable business applications using Canvas Apps, Model-driven Apps, and custom PCF components - Leading full-stack feature development from requirements gathering through deployment and monitoring - Facilitating technical workshops with clients and serving as primary technical liaison for solution architecture discussions Qualifications - 3-5 years of hands-on experience in Power Platform development with demonstrated expertise in enterprise implementations - Strong software development foundation with proven experience in React and TypeScript, including component lifecycle management and state management patterns - Deep technical expertise in Microsoft Power Platform ecosystem: Power Apps (Canvas & Model-driven), Power Automate (including custom connectors), Coding (PowerFX, SPFx), and Dataverse (including complex data modeling) - Experience with Power Platform ALM practices, including solution packaging, environment management, and CI/CD pipelines - Proficiency in integration patterns with external systems via REST APIs, Azure services, and on-premises data gateways - Understanding of Power Platform governance, security models, and performance optimization techniques Requirements - Hands-on Lead/Architect Power Platform Developer with a high focus on code quality, architectural best practices, and enterprise-grade implementations - Natural player/coach that leads with integrity, stays genuinely curious, and cares about the people around you as much as the work itself Benefits - Salary range: $170,000 – $185,000 depending on experience - Medical, dental, and vision coverage - Unlimited PTO - Professional Development budget - 401(k) retirement matching - Company sponsored events Important Applicants based in California or New York will not be considered for this position. As a Workday Extend Architect in Kainos, you’ll lead a team of specialist extend consultants on a project, ensuring the successful delivery of extend solutions for the cloud based Workday system. As a knowledgeable expert in Extend, you will work closely with customers to lead the Workday Extend project, and will scope, gather requirements, document, implement, deploy and support applications, using the Workday Extend platform toolset. You’ll build strong relationships with our customers to understand their requirements, ensuring that the solution is aligned to their needs, fit for purpose and commercially viable. You’ll be a key contributor to guiding, developing and educating others within the Workday practice on the area of Extend. Minimum (essential) requirements: - Proficiency with XML, REST, SOAP, JSON, and be knowledgeable in an object oriented programming language. - Experience of designing applications to solve business and technical problems. - Good understanding of cloud computing, web services and associated challenges. - Excellent customer focus, able to assess customer needs, build relationships and manage customer expectations. You will know when to push back, when to escalate, and when to go above and beyond to satisfy a customer. - Strong communicator, able to communicate with customers and colleagues with impact, credibility and empathy, including in a remote working situation. - Sound ability to formally present to senior Client audiences. - Strong commercial awareness and full understanding of project and business dynamics. - Broad business and technology understanding and a good awareness of industry trends in both HR and HR technology. - Ability to work to tight deadlines and make sensible decisions under pressure taking a balanced view of Customer demands and Kainos commercials. Desirable: - Workday HCM Certified, or experience with other similar HCM/ ERP systems. - Proficiency in other middleware/ application development platforms. - Proficiency in object-oriented programming language or web development language. - Experience of designing workflows to solve business and technical problems. - Experience of managing, mentoring and developing teams. People management: Your role may or may not involve managing people. Where you do have direct reports your responsibilities may include: - Agreeing, setting and reviewing your and your team’s goals aligned to Kainos, Workday practice and your Capability. - Providing support so that your and your team’s goals can be achieved. - Reviewing and refining goals for relevance and to keep performance on track. - Reviewing performance against goals and provide feedback. - Conducting 1:1 monthly and/or project completion feedback meetings. - Requesting and providing regular feedback in Workday. - Completing End of Year reviews and agreeing the outcomes for the year. - Identifying training to support your and your team’s development. - Pursuing and supporting your and your team members’ career paths and progression. - Reviewing weekly workload forecasting (staff allocations and timesheet checks) and utilisation. - Actively being involved in recruitment/interviews. - Reviewing attrition and retention metrics.
