Job Description
Head of AI Platform, GM
MongoDB
Mongo is seeking a Head of AI Platform, GM to lead the development and scaling of a new AI Applications Platform. With millions of developers trusting MongoDB for their workloads, MongoDB is building the future to enable them to create, deploy and manage AI Applications at enterprise scale. As GM you will own the business, vision and execution of this Platform. This is a unique "intrapreneurial" role where you will act as the CEO of the product line. You will own the end-to-end success of the platform, with direct responsibility over the R&D organization (Engineering, Product, and Design). As the VP & GM, you will lead the transition from 0 to 1—defining the technical architecture, building a world-class team of engineers and product thinkers, and scaling the platform to support thousands of customers building production-grade AI applications. You are someone who can debate the nuances of multi-agent orchestration and Model Context Protocol (MCP) in the morning, and present a three-year commercial growth strategy to the board in the afternoon. This role can be based in our San Francisco and New York City offices or remotely in the United States. Responsibilities - Product Vision & Execution (0 to Scale): Own the roadmap and delivery of the AI Platform. Take the product from its current state to a market-leading, developer-first platform. - Business Ownership: Own the P&L for the business unit. Manage the budget for R&D, infrastructure/inference costs, and headcount planning. - R&D Leadership: Build and lead a distributed high-performance R&D organization. You will manage Engineering, Forward Deployed Engineering, Product Management, and Product Design, fostering a culture of rapid iteration and technical excellence. - AI Strategy: Build the technical vision for the area, and lead technologists and product managers to document and evangelize the strategy with internal and external customers. - Go-to-Market Partnership: Collaborate with Partnerships, Sales and Marketing to define our GTM motion. - Customer Evangelism: Act as the "technical face" of the product for strategic customers, partners, and the open-source community. Requirements - Entrepreneurial Track Record: Experience as a founder, early-stage employee, or "0-to-1" leader within a larger tech company. You must have experience building and launching a software product from scratch. - Technical Depth in AI: Deep understanding of the AI landscape. You should be familiar with AI frameworks, foundation models, embeddings and vector databases. - Cloud & Platform Expertise: 10+ years of experience building scalable Cloud/SaaS products, enterprise infrastructure software or developer platforms (APIs, SDKs, or infrastructure tools). - Leader of Leaders: Proven experience managing managers and leading cross-functional organizations of 100+ people. - Product-Led Mindset: A "product-hacker" mentality. You prioritize shipping and learning over perfection, but understand the reliability requirements of enterprise-grade software. - Strategic Communication: Ability to distill complex technical concepts (e.g., multi-layered AI governance or inference optimization) into compelling narratives for customers and executives. - MongoDB experience is a plus About MongoDBMongoDB is built for change, empowering our customers and our people to innovate at the speed of the market. We have redefined the database for the AI era, enabling innovators to create, transform, and disrupt industries with software.
