Job Description
AI Research Engineer
Leadtech Group
At Leadtech, we’ve been redefining digital businesses since 2009, creating innovative online solutions that reach millions of users every month. With a diverse team of over 700 members from 23+ nationalities, we’re united by a passion for creativity and collaboration. We specialize in delivering user-centric experiences across web and mobile platforms, where people can connect with our products like never before. We’re proud of our global reach and committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where every individual contributes to our shared vision of bringing cutting-edge projects to life. Learn more about our journey and mission on our About us! page! About the role Leadtech’s AI-LAB is an applied research unit embedded inside Leadtech. Our mandate is simple: take state-of-the-art AI research, prototype it fast, and ship it into products that millions of people use across Image, Video, Document, and Voice & Translation categories. This is not a publish-papers lab. Every project is measured by whether it reaches production and creates measurable business impact. You’ll work with high autonomy, move quickly between research and implementation, and own your work end-to-end. You identify recent advances in AI (models, techniques, architectures), evaluate their applicability to our products, prototype rapidly, and work with engineering teams to bring successful experiments into production.
Job Requirements
- What You'll Do
- Research → Prototype → Ship.
- You identify recent advances in AI (models, techniques, architectures), evaluate their applicability to our products, prototype rapidly, and work with engineering teams to bring successful experiments into production. The cycle is days, not quarters.
- Build with modern AI tooling: Use AI-native development environments (Cursor, Claude Code) alongside proprietary and open-source models (Claude, Gemini, GLM, Kimi 2.5, Qwen, LLaMA,) to prototype and iterate at speed. Integrate via APIs (Anthropic, Google AI, OpenRouter) and local inference where appropriate.
- Design and implement agentic systems: Build multi-step, tool-using AI workflows using agentic orchestration frameworks (LangGraph, CrewAI, or custom architectures). Implement tool integration via MCP (Model Context Protocol) and structured output patterns for reliable agent behavior.
- Advance retrieval and grounding: Design, build, and optimize RAG pipelines using current embedding models (Gemini Embedding, Cohere Embed v4, BGE-M3), hybrid search strategies (dense + sparse + reranking), and vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, Qdrant, FAISS). Evaluate and adopt emerging retrieval techniques (ColBERT, late interaction, contextual retrieval).
- Work across modalities: Apply vision-language models, image generation/editing pipelines, video understanding, and multimodal reasoning to Leadtech’s product portfolio. This role is not text-only.
- Evaluate rigorously: Build evaluation infrastructure using LLM observability platforms (Langfuse, Braintrust, or similar). Design automated eval suites, measure output quality against business KPIs, conduct bias and robustness analysis, and implement guardrails and safety checks for production outputs.
- Optimize for production: Consider inference cost, latency, and reliability from day one. Know when fine-tuning (LoRA, QLoRA) is justified vs. when prompt engineering, structured outputs, and tool use achieve the same goal at lower cost.
- Ship reusable components: Build shared infrastructure — embedding pipelines, evaluation scripts, prompt management systems, dataset preparation tools — that accelerate the entire AI-LAB team.
- What We're Looking For
- We want a pragmatic researcher who ships. Someone who reads papers on Monday, prototypes on Tuesday, and has a working demo by Thursday. You balance depth with speed and know when to go deep versus when to iterate.
- Applied Mindset: A pragmatic Research Engineer who can balance exploration with feasibility, knowing when to go deep and when to iterate fast. You love shipping products.
- A Proactive Self - Learner reading-up and knowing and investigating recent and novel developments in the A.I Field, new releases and what are the current iterations of models & algorithms being released.
- Problem-Solving Mindset: You are a collaborative problem-solver, eager to take on new challenges and contribute to a very fast-paced development cycle.
- Technical Depth in Building & LLM´s: Strong hands-on experience with modern LLM Strenghts and their weaknesses frameworks and technique, LLamaIndex, langchain, MCP´s (Model Context Protocol),
- Coding & Experimentation Skills: Proficiency in Python, PyTorch, HuggingFace Transformers, LangChain, or similar libraries. Comfortable with experimentation frameworks
- Evaluation-Focused: Strong grasp of evaluation metrics, bias/robustness analysis, and how to validate LLM & RAG + Agentic outputs for reliability and business impact.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Python, FastAPI, Docker, Pydantic v2, Experience with hybrid search RAG architectures,, using vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate,Llamaindex, FAISS, Vespa) and new and emerging RAG Techniques frameworks.
- Creativity and Proactivity: Assist in building reusable components (embedding pipelines, evaluation scripts). Help prepare datasets, run model evaluations, and document experimental findings.
- Bonus Points (Nice to Have):
- AI Project Experience: Previous experience working on projects involving AI, machine learning, Deep Learning or interacting with large language models (LLMs).
- Knowledge of cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

This is a great opportunity to build something with significant impact from the ground up. You will be expected to quickly achieve mastery of our streaming data pipelines and distributed systems architecture, and then have the creative latitude to design and implement a comprehensive end-to-end test framework - with real organizational investment and impact behind it. You will influence testing strategy organization-wide, set technical standards, and serve as a force multiplier for the engineers around you. Job Level: P5 What You’ll Do - Rapidly develop a comprehensive understanding of our entire data platform (its architecture, data flows, business logic, and system interdependencies) to serve as the foundation for a testing strategy; - Work with our application QA Engineering Team to understand our existing testing strategy and tools; this will help you identify how you can fill the gaps in data testing; - Design, architect, and lead the implementation of an integration testing framework for the Organizer application's streaming data platform, ensuring it is complementary to existing infrastructure; - Design automated validations that query and compare data across multiple storage systems (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB, Pinot) to ensure end-to-end data correctness; - Embed automated tests within CI/CD pipelines to establish regression baselines and continuously validate new feature development; - Design tests that rigorously account for eventual consistency, asynchronous processing, and time-based behaviors inherent to distributed systems; - Define and own the long-term quality and testing strategy for the data platform, aligning it with organizational reliability, observability, and engineering excellence goals; - Evaluate, select, and integrate tools, frameworks, and technologies to advance automation and data validation capabilities across the organization; - Implement automated performance and throughput benchmarks for critical pipeline components and own the standards by which results are evaluated; - Participate in engineering design reviews with a quality-first lens, ensuring testability, observability, and data correctness are built into systems from the start; - Proactively identify, investigate, and drive resolution of data quality issues and systemic reliability risks; collaborate with data engineers to implement fixes and preventative measures; - Lead post-incident reviews for data quality events: authoring clear timelines, facilitating root cause analysis, and driving follow-through on remediation action items; - Mentor engineers across the data platform and QA teams, establishing testing best practices and elevating the team's overall quality culture; and - Represent the data platform's quality posture in cross-functional technical discussions and influence engineering standards across teams.
