Responsibilities include conducting live classes, developing lessons and other materials, grading student work, and regularly communicating with students and parents. Kolbe will provide course plans, books, software, and other resources, as well as ongoing support and training, to help instructors to succeed in their roles. Instructors generally work in one department (e.g., math, history) and may teach one or more courses. Responsibilities for Teachers Grade 6-12 • Conduct live classes as scheduled in Adobe Connect • Manage and maintain assigned courses in Schoology (our learning management system) • Design and develop lessons, assignments, and assessments using the Kolbe curriculum • Communicate with parents and students through email and Schoology (M-F except on holidays) • Provide timely feedback and grading on all assignments and assessments • Hold office hours during exam weeks and by request of students • Complete annual initial and ongoing training as assigned • Attend all in-service, department, and grade level meetings as scheduled QualificationsIdeal Candidate: Experience teaching the specific subject in the classroom and/or online Passion for technology and familiarity with online learning Ability to create engaging synchronous lessons Engaging personality Organized and Professional Catholic and Virtuous BONUS: Understanding of Classical/Ignatian Methodology Required Qualifications Classroom teaching experience and/or tutoring homeschool students. Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. Master's degree in field or teacher certification (any state). Preferred Previous experience teaching in an online environment. Peer Writing Tutor Position Overview: Peer Writing Tutors provide tutoring to individual students and groups of students in person and virtually. Peer Writing Tutors assist students in improving academic performance through writing skills development in mechanics of writing, grammar, citations, and more. Peer Writing Tutors model techniques, strategies, attitudes, and beliefs contributing to student success. Note: We typically hire tutors twice a year at the beginning of each semester, and prospective tutors should get one instructor or faculty recommendation (send instructors this form). Essential Duties: - Work one-on-one with students during scheduled sessions in a respectful manner. - Holds tutoring sessions with students either in-person in academic spaces or virtually via Zoom. - Provide constructive feedback on students’ writing. - Help students recognize their own writing strengths and areas for growth. - Guide students in developing writing strategies they can apply independently to future assignments. - Attend required trainings as needed. - Maintains accurate and proper records of tutoring sessions. - Responds promptly to messages or emails from students, supervisors, and other Library and Academic Support Services staff. Work Experience: - Have taken College Writing (ENG 120/121) or transfer equivalent and received a B or higher. - Basic understanding of academic writing and grammar. - Ability to adapt to different learning styles and paces. - Ability to stay patient, calm, and respectful with students. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
