COMMERCIAL LOAN OFFICER STATUS: EXEMPT DEPARTMENT: BUSINESS SERVICES DATE: 12/2022 REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR, BUSINESS SERVICES JOB CODE: 11256 PAY SCALE: $124,700.00 – $140,000.00 ANNUALLY GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Senior Commercial Loan Officer is responsible for executing the Credit Union’s strategic priorities and objectives related to commercial real estate loan products. Responsible for developing and building relationships with commercial loan brokers, economic development programs, and California businesses, providing a variety of commercial real estate loan and deposit products and services based on the members' needs. Collaborates with other business units and serves as a commercial real estate lending expert for the credit union. The Senior Commercial Loan Officer monitors and controls loan data by ensuring data is accurately booked against documentation. TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS: - Manage, grow and execute business development activities and maintain pipeline statistics surrounding these activities. - Individually generate annual commercial real estate loan production as agreed by management. - Develop, implement, and maintain effective production strategies that enhance Golden 1 Business Services market position to help the credit union achieve budgeted business services production goals. - Mentor and lead business loan officers and support team in the loan processes and member service best practices. - Ensure effective delivery of exceptional member service, loan quality, and loan retention by building relationships with California businesses that exceed the alternatives in the marketplace. - Develop and execute strategies to attract new clients, including cold calling, attending industry events, and leveraging existing relationships. - Collaboratively support business lending operations to ensure the organization identifies and minimizes all types and levels of risk, through adherence to applicable policies, guidelines, and procedures. - Support credit/underwriting and portfolio needs thru requesting additional information to assist in closing loans or maintaining loan portfolio. Helpfully interacts with loan production staff and portfolio management personnel. - Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance including BSA, AML, TILA, HMDA, GLBA, Fair Lending, and others that are appropriate to the position. - Identify, investigate, and resolve member/branch/online concerns related to business services production. - Implement risk mitigation strategies, such as regular portfolio reviews and maintaining updated credit files - Performs other duties as assigned. PHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXERTION UTILIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TASKS: 1. Mobility throughout the workday with frequent location changes. 2. Effective oral and written communication skills required to interact with credit union staff, management, and members. 3. Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate an on-line computer terminal and other standard office equipment, such as financial calculators, personal computer, facsimile machine, and telephone. 4. Effective technology and reporting skills are required to direct and manage loan origination activities. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTACTS & RELATIONSHIPS: - INTERNAL: Business Services operations staff, branch and call center staff, and management. - EXTERNAL: Realtors/brokers/vendors/organizations/other business partners. QUALIFICATIONS: - EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration or related field; Master’s degree or MBA preferred. 2. EXPERIENCE: Eight years or more of commercial banking and commercial loan origination experience required. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: - Maintain knowledge of commercial real estate lending requirements, all commercial real estate loan products, commercial real estate loan fulfillment, credit union policies and all applicable federal and state laws and regulations. - Exceptional member service and member relations skills. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and business/commercial loan origination systems. - Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles. - Demonstrated ability to work independently and interact collaboratively and cultivate partnerships across the organization. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: - Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required. - Corrected vision within the normal range. - Hearing within normal range. A device to enhance hearing will be provided if needed. - Occasional movements throughout the department daily to interact with staff, accomplish tasks, etc. - Ability to travel for business, as needed. May include overnight scheduling. - Occasional long work hours may be required to accomplish tasks.
