TEKsystems is currently seeking a Word Document Engineer with strong format and PDF experience for a 4-6 week 100% Remote contract opening. Description Seeking a contractor with advanced Microsoft Word document engineering expertise to design and implement a new architecture for our Modern Zoning Code (MZC). This department maintains the MZC, currently stored as a single Microsoft Word document exceeding 600 pages. The code contains extensive formatting, styles, cross references, hyperlinks, tables, and diagrams. The current document structure has created operational challenges, including slow performance, formatting inconsistencies, difficulty maintaining numbering schemes, and issues exporting a clean and accurate PDF for review and public publication. These limitations hinder efficient updates, review processes, and staff productivity. To improve long-term maintainability, performance, and publishing reliability, PDS intends to convert the zoning code into a modular document architecture, consisting of multiple section based documents managed through a Microsoft Word master document and standardized template.
