About the role The Business Intelligence Developer I is the early career position and is responsible for ongoing analysis of health care information, including patient care, financial, and demographic data. The BI Developer I position is one of the primary interfaces for data reporting, analysis, data integrity, and report design and delivery for Kern Health Systems (KHS). The BI Developer I should also have strong problem-solving skills. This position requires understanding in database schemas and table definition of an RDBMS. The incumbent will provide professional skills necessary for basic report writing and presentation. The BI Developer I must have an understanding of the use of the structured query language (SQL) and end user reporting or data presentation. It requires the use of analytical tools (Business Objects, Excel, and SAS), knowledge of data analysis methodology, use of presentation software, strong communication skills and a strong commitment and affinity for delivering the highest level of customer service. Perform data analysis in support of ad-hoc and planned customer requests. Works with customers to develop and understand analysis and report specifications. The BI Developer I delivers data products in report, presentation format, or verbally, to customer specifications and timelines with thoughtful evaluation of data. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Detail-oriented and collaborative professionally with strong judgment, initiative, and resourcefulness, who confidently assumes responsibility and thrives under the mentorship of senior team members. - Works with the Data Management and Reporting team to develop insightful, data-driven reports using the KHS Operational Data Store and Data Warehouse. - Works directly with internal business partners and management for data collection, data analysis, methodology, and documentation - Experience in creating formulas, calculations, and graphs in Microsoft Excel. - RDBMS - Basic familiarity of the techniques used in relational Database Management Systems. - SQL - Understanding of structure query language (SQL) statements. Able to write simple two join queries using basic SQL skills. - Report Generation - Work with end users to identify reporting requirements. - Administration/Organization – Track work efforts and keep personal work organized. - Create and maintain documentation for the Business Development team, reporting, methodologies, and other areas as needed. - Work and communicate effectively with the various professionals throughout the organization. - Resolves elevated help desk incidents, change management requests, or problem tickets as assigned. Employment Standards: Education and Experience: - Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school or equivalent in Computer Science or related field and 2 years’ experience in report writing. OR - 4 years of experience as an Analyst in healthcare or similar organization with an emphasis on business reporting.
