Business Operations Director – Energy & Environment
Boston Government Services, LLC (BGS)
• Partner with portfolio or program leadership to operationalize strategic priorities. • Translate leadership direction into operational plans, workflows, and execution cadence. • Serve as a trusted advisor on operational risks, constraints, and opportunities. • Develop and manage an opportunity pipeline for the company based on input from the BU Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and industry forecasts. • Periodically review the pipeline with the BU Senior Leadership Team to ensure capture plans are in progress. • Provide support for capture and account planning. • Support budget tracking, labor forecasting, and variance analysis. • Establish and maintain operational rhythms (status reviews, dashboards, reporting). • Act as liaison across Operations, Finance, HR, Contracts, IT, and PMO. • Identify operational gaps, inefficiencies, or recurring issues.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of experience in operations, program support, or business management.
- Experience supporting projects or portfolios in technical or regulated environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective cross-departmental liaison.
- Superior time-management and prioritization skills to manage competing, time-sensitive demands.
- Strong financial, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to pass a federal background check.
- Successful drug screening.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Willingness to travel as needed.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has worked in fast-moving DTC environments and knows how to fix messy systems, streamline workflows, and keep operations running reliably at scale. You will focus on building operational foundations, improving execution across teams, and reducing day-to-day firefighting for the founders. Responsibilities - Oversee Shopify backend workflows (orders, refunds, payments, fraud handling) - Ensure stable operations between store, payment providers, logistics, and support - Identify inefficiencies and implement automation where possible - Manage and optimize global support teams (agents, QA, escalation flows) - Define SLAs, refund logic, and escalation processes - Reduce ticket volume by improving root causes (product, delivery, UX issues) - Coordinate with suppliers and fulfillment partners - Improve delivery timelines, stock visibility, and operational reliability - Flag risks early (delays, stockouts, cost changes) - Build and document clear SOPs across operations - Improve internal tools, reporting, and dashboards - Create clarity in ownership, workflows, and execution standards - Act as the operational bridge between support, product, and leadership - Drive accountability and follow-through across teams - Surface issues early and propose practical solutions What Success Looks Like - Day-to-day operations run without constant founder involvement - Customer support is predictable, efficient, and under control - Backend systems are structured, documented, and scalable - Operational issues are identified early and handled proactively - Teams know what to do, and things get done without chaos
• Lead systems strategy and roadmap for each CXO functional area • Direct the IT Project Management Office (PMO) in a high-growth environment and balance agility with delivery • Establish and scale IT project, program, and portfolio management standards and deliver successful outcomes across Enterprise business systems (including Acumatica Internal ERP) IT infrastructure and end user services SaaS operations and platform initiatives Data science and business analytics Cybersecurity initiatives • Lead a team of Business Analysts responsible for driving clarity of business requirements, documenting business processes, championing AI/automation, and communicating IT development priorities • Oversee Level 1 and Level 2 enterprise business systems application support, with a primary focus on Acumatica Internal ERP • Maintain the IT roadmap, project status reporting for all of IT, and adherence to the IT Project Development Lifecycle (PDLC).
