Position Overview Our client is engaging a contract Insurance Coverage and/or Defense Attorney to support a growing docket on a flexible basis. This is a remote contractor engagement available as either part-time or full-time, ideal for a California-barred attorney who wants control over their schedule while working on sophisticated matters for an international firm. You will support the firm's U.S. insurance practice on a project or ongoing basis, with work assigned based on capacity, experience, and practice preference (coverage, defense, or both). Qualifications • At least 2+ years of experience in insurance coverage and/or defense litigation • Strong academic credentials with excellent research and writing skills • Experience with case management, drafting pleadings, coverage opinions, and handling motions and depositions • Admitted and in good standing in California (additional jurisdictions a plus) • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and communicate proactively in a remote environment Key Responsibilities • Support insurance coverage and/or defense matters, including bad faith claims, on a project or ongoing basis • Draft and review coverage opinions, pleadings, motions, discovery, and other legal documents • Take and defend depositions as assigned, including experts and key parties • Provide litigation and trial support, including research, strategy input, witness preparation, and drafting • Collaborate with partners and senior associates to develop case strategy and deliver practical solutions • Communicate directly with the firm's attorneys and, where appropriate, clients to provide updates and strategic guidance Engagement Details • Engagement type: 1099 contractor • Schedule: Part-time or full-time — hours negotiable based on practice need and candidate availability • Compensation: Competitive hourly or project-based rate, commensurate with experience (discussed during interview) • Location: Fully remote within California • Duration: Open-ended with potential to convert to permanent for the right fit Equal Opportunity Statement All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected status under applicable law.
