Payroll Manager
Deel
• Prepare & process US payroll on according to payroll schedule for our team members across multiple entities (semi-monthly and bi-weekly); • Establish and maintain payroll records; • Verify payroll records are in compliance with established standards - familiarity with SOC and SOX compliance required; • Make changes in the pay and tax status of employees; • Prepare error-free payroll-related management reports for accounting purposes; • Work cross-functionally with Engineering/Product, Deel Global Payroll Operations, Finance and People Teams to ensure proper taxation, reporting, etc for applicable entities; • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely; • Understand proper tax treatment and processing requirements for wages and employer paid benefits; • Garnishments • Bonuses • Stock Transactions • Gross-Ups • Receive and document any necessary approvals prior to processing any non-standard payments; • Prepare and generate required payroll compliance filings for labor, pay, and tax reporting; • Process accurate and timely year-end reporting; • Process manual pay cycles when needed.
Job Requirements
- Minimum of five (5) years experience calculating and processing US payroll required
- Experience with Canadian and/or LATAM payroll a plus
- CPP/FPC preferred
- Experience processing payroll for multiple entities is required
- Experience processing payroll for multiple states is required, including states with locals
- Experience working in enterprise payroll technology such as Workday, Deel, SAP, ADP, etc is highly preferred
- Working knowledge of accounting principles, ability to understand impact of payroll activity on financial statements and effectively partner with Finance in analyzing and explaining P&L and Balance sheet variances.
- Expert understanding of time-keeping and wage & hour compliance requirements
- Proficiency in Google Suite, specifically Sheets, Documents, and Slides highly preferred.
- Ability to use mathematics to problem solve.
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to approach problems, analyze solutions, and reach conclusions.
- Able to work independently with minimal guidance and able to work as part of a team.
- Excellent customer service/communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment without loss of accuracy of work product and output.

The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary: - Responsible for supervising staff and the overall daily management of the Corporate Payroll department(s). - Develops, implements and manages operational goals and monitors achievements of performance and profit objectives. - Assists with creating effective and efficient schedules, while maintaining labor costs, meeting staffing objectives and achieving guest satisfaction. - Approves and assists with any escalated wages, overtime payments, and payroll deductions issues.
