The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos has an opening for a Field Service Engineer to provide technical support for the development, test, deployment, sustainment and quality assurance of a complex telecommunication system. As a Field Service Engineer on this high-paced, fast-moving program, you will be a member of a team that interacts with technical and non-technical teammates, including customers and vendors. In this role, you will be required to conduct surveys, assist with the designing of installation packages, conducting equipment and cable installations, administer configurations, providing technical assistance, support commissioning testing, troubleshooting, and resolving issues associated with the various network elements. This is a remote position but requires up to 90% travel. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: - Creates IBOM, MBOM, Master TRBOM (Manufacturing Bill of Materials) for site installations. - Ensure that all implementation activities use consistent and proven processes, that these processes be modified and improved as necessary, and are used across all types of implementations. - Execute the actions identified in the TSIP to accomplish the tasks required to install and integrate test & activate (IT&A) systems into operational readiness. - Lead daily status calls and articulate and document accomplishments, current project status, identify challenges, and projection. - Compile information to articulate accomplishments, current project status, identify challenges, and projection for the daily status report (DSR). - Conduct site survey, install, testing and de-install, and quality control activities to ensure the project stays on schedule and quality of deliverables are achieved. - Perform detailed and technically in-depth site surveys and quality control aspects for Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) in CONUS and OCONUS locations as required to assess/analyze site preparedness and develop implementation plans, power requirements, and associated cost estimates. - Conduct installation/de-installation/upgrade/interface actions associated with network components at stakeholders’ locations. - Coordinates with users, site/base support and or facilities personnel, network manager(s) and controllers, long haul and local carriers for installation, cutover, activation, deactivation planning and execution. - Create Site Survey Report (SSR) to meet project milestones, objectives, and deliverables. - Assist with the creation of Site Engineering Solution (SES) to meeting project milestones, objectives, and deliverables. - Work with Logistics lead to assist in solidifying IBOM/MBOM procurement requirements and meet project milestones, objectives, and deliverables. - Perform configurations on Juniper, Dell, Lantronix and General Dynamics (KGs) network elements per Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) guidelines. - Perform installation test and acceptance (IT&A) and quality validation of network components and/or facilitating remote testing with off-site Operations Engineering support. - Performs oversight of installation/de-installation/upgrade/interface actions associated with network components at user locations. - Facilitates and finalizes all aspects of site acceptance and quality control. - Collaborate with partners to coordinate and perform project objectives to include site surveys, installations, testing, site deinstallations, quality control and provide customer-ready deliverable reports upon completion. - Supports senior staff as required and ensures customer requirements and project milestones are met. - Perform updates to TSIP packages which include master redline drawings, SES, SSR, 1149, SCL, CLR, and Test Results. - Conduct and oversee site survey, install, testing and de-install activities, ensuring they are properly coordinated with customers, statuses, and completed in a timely manner, including travel approval and quality of deliverables. - Perform updates to master redline drawings, incorporating sub-contractors field redline drawings and ensuring changes are reflected on master documents. - Work with partners to coordinate and perform project objectives to include site surveys, installations, testing, site deinstallations and provide customer-ready deliverable reports upon completion. - Ensure that all implementation activities use consistent and proven processes and that these processes are modified and improved as necessary, across all types of implementations. - Provide technical support to customers and other service professionals as required. - Participate in program and project activities, attend meetings, champion special projects and prepare exclusive reports. - Maintains clear and concise business communication proficiency, both oral and written. - Travel, overtime and work hours other than Monday-Friday may be required. - Comply with all applicable U.S. export control and security regulations. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: - Must have an active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility. - Must hold and active 8570 IAT Level II certification. - Experience with surveys, installations, pulling and terminating cable, determining, and implementing required pin outs, installing, and configuring cards, power supplies, racks, patch panels, etc., testing, and documenting installations, dressing, and labeling cables, racks, patch panels, etc. - BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems and 6 years of related experience in installation such as BICSI or Telcordia. Specific experience, education, and training may be considered in place of a degree. - ANSI/BICSI 002 - Data Center Design and Implementation Best Practices - ANSI/BICSI N1 - Installation Practices for Telecommunications and ICT Cabling and Related Cabling Infrastructure - ANSI/BICSI N3 - Planning and Installation Methods for the Bonding and Grounding of Telecommunication and ICT Systems and Infrastructure - Information Technology Systems Installation Methods Manual (ITSIMM) - Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual (TDMM) - Job requires frequent bending, stooping, twisting, turning, and working in unusual positions requiring full body mobility. - Working knowledge of Juniper Routers and switches, and other ancillary equipment. - Knowledgeable and proficiency in M.S. Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), specifically Visio. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with excellent written and oral communication skills. - Must be always responsive to all customer issues and requests. Must be willing & able to travel at short notice. - Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, and perform other installation activities. - Experience briefing Government customers and stakeholders - Ability to work in a team focused, fast paced, dynamic environment - Ability to travel extensively.
