ROLE OVERVIEW: The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) program is a field-based role specifically designed to support the in-depth, scientific information needs of the wider Medical Affairs teams. Adhering to all governing internal and external requirements, procedures, and laws and always demonstrating good judgment. MSLs recognise and communicate feedback and insights of strategic importance by facilitating scientific exchange between industry and the scientific community. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: - Maintain and effectively communicate deep scientific knowledge - MSLs will be required to engage in continuous learning to maintain the highest level of scientific expertise within the therapeutic area they represent. As a result, the MSL will establish themselves as a reliable, trusted, resource of unbiased, accurate, up-to-date, medical and scientific knowledge. - Excel at customer engagement and support medical/scientific information needs of scientific experts. - This is a field-based customer facing role where the majority of the MSLs time will be spent engaging in mutually beneficial 2-way dialogues with Clinical and Scientific Experts. Through emotional intelligence and a deep understanding of their customers, MSLs will act as one of the primary interfaces between Lilly medical and scientific experts to deliver the best-in-class customer experiences. - Demonstrate strategic vision and leadership, aligned to the medical and brand strategy In this role, the MSL is responsible for their therapeutic area (TA) across Norway. The MSL will provide support externally and internally including providing support for research studies, congresses, facilitating IIT and may provide TA training. MSLs effectively communicate complex data and feed back meaningful clinical insights they receive from Scientific Experts and Clinical Experts to Lilly medical and cross-functional teams. They use creative problem-solving skills and utilize internal resources effectively to execute solutions. TERRITORY OWNERSHIP: MSLs will be expected to demonstrate strategic analysis, territory mapping, planning, and prioritisation to maximize efficiency. They will implement and evaluate a strategic territory plan prioritising core MSL activity and take personal accountability for results. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: - Advanced degree in Health Sciences (PhD / MD/ PharmD in a medically related field) with at least 2-3 years of relevant cardiometabolic health or incretin clinical or therapeutic experience. - Field-based position requires the applicant to live on territory (preferably Oslo area, Norway) and the ability to travel to meet HCPs (valid driving license). - Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, including high emotional intelligence, excellent presentation and communication skills, and the ability to engage in professional relationship-building and networking. - Ability to leverage an omnichannel approach in the engagement with external experts to orchestrate personalized engagement based on their preferences. - Learning agility and Intellectual curiosity within the field of Science/Medicine and comprehending and effectively communicating large amounts of complex scientific content. - Ability to work independently and remotely, effectively managing multiple priorities and projects. - Resiliency in managing complex challenges. - The highest ethical standards, with a working knowledge of relevant clinical regulations and industry standards including Good Clinical Research Practice, and local pharma code. ADDITIONAL SKILLS & PREFERENCES: - Familiarity with health systems, academic communities, medical research, and the medical education process is highly valued. - Masters or Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences with at least 5 years of industry experience (Medical Affairs preferred). - Cardiometabolic health experience within areas of interest to Lilly. Additional experience with incretins, immunology or neuroscience is an advantage. - Previous experience in field based roles is a benefit.
