Project Manager – HR & Payroll ERP

GEM

• Drive day-to-day project operations within HR and Payroll workstreams to achieve program objectives. • Ensure timeline coordination and adherence to scope, plan of record, and project controls expectations (PCE). • Develop, maintain, and manage detailed project plans and schedules, aligned with program milestones. • Collaborate closely with functional team members, SMEs, and workstream leads. • Identify, document, and manage workstream-level risks, issues, and dependencies. • Drive resolution of risks and issues within the HR/Payroll scope; escalate cross-workstream or program-level impacts as needed. • Coordinate with business owners, functional SMEs, and technical teams to ensure readiness and adoption. • Serve as the primary escalation point within the HR and Payroll workstreams, elevating broader issues to the Program Manager as needed. • Coordinate day-to-day activities with functional teams and vendors to ensure timely, high-quality deliverables. • Organize and balance detailed workstream execution with broader program alignment. • Sense of strong ownership and accountability for delivery outcomes. • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving clarity. • Proactive, collaborative, and effective at building strong partnerships across business, IT, and vendors.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 8+ years of relevant experience including 5+ years managing ERP-related workstreams; additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
  • Demonstrated experience leading HR and Payroll components of major ERP implementations.
  • ERP experience is required.
  • Must have experience within HR and Payroll tools at a high level.
  • Must have experience managing payroll and HR migrations.
  • Must have directly managed HR and Payroll workstreams in large-scale ERP implementations (preferably SAP S/4HANA).
  • Strong understanding of HR and Payroll business processes and compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to operate within a structured program governance model, collaborating with a Program Manager, Implementation Planner, and multiple workstream leads.
  • Strong risk, issue, and dependency management experience.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira).
  • PMP or equivalent certification preferred.

About the Role The Project Manager oversees client initiatives by managing scope, schedules, resources, and budgets. They ensure timely and high-quality delivery through coordination with internal teams and external vendors. They lead planning, meetings, risk management, and scope changes, acting as the main point of accountability throughout the project lifecycle. Responsibilities - Assisting the sales process for new and ongoing projects by defining, confirming, and documenting project scope and the project schedule. - Working with internal and external vendors to gather project estimates. - Coordinating with stakeholders to define project expectations, verifying scope, gathering information. Leading planning meetings, developing schedules and risk plans, and supporting resource identification. - Managing and recording detailed project requirements, constraints, and assumptions with stakeholders in order to establish the project deliverables. Using requirement-gathering techniques (e.g., planning sessions, brainstorming, focus groups) and the project charter. - Completing project and process evaluation, scorecard review, internal/external debrief meetings, and documentation, and providing input to development of ongoing refresh schedule. - Enhancing team performance through leadership, mentoring, training, and motivation to foster collaboration, improve efficiency, and elevate morale. - Executing assembly procedures, monitors shipping or mailing to ensure/confirm delivery. Managing print projects, including proof review/approval, and attending press checks for a wide range of print work. - Understanding and verifying the financial scope of the project.
