ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties. - Helps all students: - Plan for postsecondary options (enroll in education, enlist in military option, employ in work force) - Apply academic achievement strategies - Manage emotions and apply interpersonal skill - Focuses students and families on college and career readiness; - Meets quarterly with all students on caseload to review graduation plan and post-secondary options; - Delivers classroom instruction based on student success standards; - Reviews transcripts and other academic documentation for new and returning students; - Works collaboratively with teaching staff to develop a four (4) year graduation plan and audits student schedules for candidacy for graduation as determined by school and state policies; - Assist students in course placement including recommendations on Advanced Placement (AP) and pathways to challenge and enrich student learning opportunities; - Analyzes student data and develops data-driven programs for intervention action plans; - Provides short-term counseling to students and referrals for long-term support, as necessary; - Provides a support system that strengthens the efforts of teachers, staff, and parents; - Supports standardized testing program; parent education; and staff development; - May advocate for students at individual education plan meetings and other student-focused meetings; - Focuses students and families on goal setting and academic planning for college and career readiness; - Ability to travel up to 20% of the time for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and/or as required by the school. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position’s level and expected contribution, and the employee’s benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range. - Exempt (salary): Post annual salary We anticipate the salary range to be $44,452.00 - $55,565.00 - $66,678.00 Eligible employees may receive a bonus. Kids Help Phone (KHP) is Canada’s Unlock The Hope Youth Charity. We’re the first and Canada's only national 24/7, free, confidential, and multilingual e-mental health service for youth and a global leader in innovation for youth and their well-being. As a KHP counsellor, you will provide single session solution focused support to young people via anonymous phone and live chat. Sessions are offered on a first come first serve basis. You will be supporting young people with a variety of concerns such as: - Mental health - Anxiety - Depression - Family and relationships - School challenges - Suicide Support is provided through a person-centered approach and aligned with counselling best practices. Counselors work directly with the children developing and implementing the Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies (PATHS) skills curriculum and problem solving any needs that may arise. Summer 2026, our program will run beginning with training on Tuesday June 23rd, Wednesday June 24th, and Thursday June 25th from 10am-5pm. Program will run on Tuesday, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10am-2pm and 1pm-5pm depending on your group assignment with additional time commitments before and after scheduled program times (sometimes as early as 8:30 am and as late as 6:30 pm). Program will run June 30th-August 13th. Counselors must be able to commit to all days of training and program. Program staff must have flexibility within these time frames. There may also be some remote work required to complete lesson plans on non-program days. Counselors must be able to commit to ALL days of training and program. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Work collaboratively with co-counselors to plan and implement classroom lesson utilizing the PATHS Curriculum for classroom of 6 assigned children. Includes managing behaviors, using behavior management and reward system to encourage development of positive social emotional habits and coping skills, as well as working collaboratively with program supervisor to support any crisis intervention events and to monitor any clinical concerns for program children. - Participate in group and individual supervision meetings with direct supervisor to problem solve classroom management, behavioral and co-counseling challenges. - Bus monitoring to support safe and efficient transportation of children to and from program, includes communicating with assistant program coordinator around transportation changes as well as Mt. Hope Family Center bus drivers to ensure adherence to bus rules and regulations (seat belt wearing, appropriate volume etc.) - Group lesson planning and preparation—must meet one time per week face to face with co-counselors in order to plan weekly lessons and classroom structure including preparation of any activity materials needed - Other duties as assigned.
