Buying Specialist

• Manage the buying process for a given set of goods • Apply sourcing policy and interface between supplier and entity with respect to specifications and budgets • Manage relationships with suppliers • Monitor supplier performance and identify areas for improvement • Utilize in-depth knowledge of a discipline and analytical thinking to execute policy/strategy • Lead projects with low risks and resource requirements • Explain information and develop skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within the field • Convey performance expectations and handle sensitive issues • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to understand project requirements • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards • Identify and mitigate potential risks to procurement activities • Propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address complicated, day-to-day problems • Prioritize information for data analysis • Use technical experience and analytical thinking • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers • Negotiate contracts and ensure favorable terms and conditions • Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders • Provide regular updates on procurement activities and project status • Participate in cross-functional meetings and initiatives • Travel if needed

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of experience in Commercial Operations, Sourcing/Procurement, Supplier Relationship Management, Sales, Supply Chain or Contract Management roles)
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in Commercial Operations, Sourcing/Procurement, Supplier Relationship Management, Sales, Supply Chain, or Contract Management roles
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
  • Established project management skills
