ALTEN
• Handling tenders from transmission system operators (TSOs) for protection and secondary systems in high- and extra-high-voltage substations • Planning and standards-compliant, operationally safe design of protection systems for 220 kV and 380 kV installations • Developing protection concepts such as distance protection, differential protection and breaker-failure logic • Configuring protection relays such as Siemens SIPROTEC (e.g., 7SA6, 7SD6) and producing consistent device settings • Technical clarifications with TSOs, planners, customers and internal specialist departments • Preparing protection diagrams, logic matrices, deviation lists and technical specifications • Creating and reviewing FAT and SAT test plans for factory and commissioning tests • Supporting protection tests and assisting with fault analysis and commissioning
Job Requirements
- Degree in electrical engineering, industrial engineering or a comparable qualification
- Proficiency with protection relays such as Siemens SIPROTEC (7SA6, 7SD6, 7UT6, 7SJ6), ABB RELION or GE MiCOM, both in theory and in practice
- Experienced with planning software such as ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory or PSS/E
- Parameterization of protection devices using DIGSI 5/6 or ABB PCM600
- Familiarity with relevant standards such as IEC 61850, IEC 60255, VDE 0101/0102
- Preparing technical documentation in AutoCAD, EPLAN or MS Visio
- Deep understanding of protection engineering, network operation procedures and secondary systems
- Willingness to travel occasionally to test facilities, customers or construction sites
- Fluent German and English skills

Role Description The Senior Forensic Traffic Engineer provides expert-level traffic engineering and forensic consulting related to roadway design, traffic operations, and traffic safety. This role evaluates highways, streets, and intersections—including traffic signals, signs, and traffic control devices—to determine compliance with engineering standards and to identify contributing factors in vehicle, pedestrian, and bicycle accidents.
