Catalyze Team Leader (Undergraduate Ministries) Work Location: Remote - USA Job Type: Part time To advance the purpose of InterVarsity, this position will plant and build witnessing communities of students and faculty who follow Jesus on college and university campuses. When InterVarsity launched the 2030 Calling in 2017, our best data revealed that there were approximately 1,300 campuses in the country with enrollments of at least 1,000 students but without a known gospel witness– a number that represented roughly 50% of the campuses in the country. Over the last eight years, through the collaborative efforts of the EveryCampus coalition to mobilize prayer, partnership, and planting, we’ve seen that number drop to only ~450 remaining “No-Known-Ministry” (NKM) campuses. The Catalyze Team is InterVarsity’s primary organizational strategy to invest in this missional gap in the hopes that by 2030 there would be no campus left in the country without a known gospel movement. ESSENTIAL COMMITMENTS Spiritual Growth - Pursue maturity as a disciple of Jesus Christ so that your life and work increasingly reflect a growing love for God, God’s Word, God’s people of every ethnicity and culture, and God’s purposes in the world. Organizational Collaboration - Work with a network of other local, area, regional, and national InterVarsity staff and volunteers so that our work reflects Biblical standards of excellence, integrity, and partnership. Optional Ministry Partnership Development - This is a fully funded position. If incumbent staff would like to increase their hourly rate up to $26/hour, they may develop a team of partners – churches and individuals (including alumni and community members) – to support the ministry financially and with prayer Goals Our team will pursue three key goals over the next two years: - Reduce the number of NKM campuses from ~450 to 300 by June 2028. - Plant and sustain 75 new InterVarsity chapters by June 2028. - Confirm and/or Resource 250 Independent Groups by June 2028. Strategies In pursuit of these goals, Catalyze staff will employ a variety of strategies, including: - Digital Research on a portfolio of ~10-20 NKM campuses (prorated based on hours) - Remote connection & resourcing with Independent Groups - Multi-faceted lead generation to identify prospects with capacity to start something new - Coaching partners to start new ministry on NKM campuses Expectations We hope to recruit 2-3 Team Leaders who would join our existing Catalyze team to: - Commit to 2 years on the team, including ministry years ‘26-27 and ‘27-28. - Invest at least 12-16 hours/week in the Catalyze initiative doing the following: - Participating in weekly Catalyze team calls which will alternate between team meetings & “office hours” co-working space. - Participating in a team retreat in tandem with InterVarsity’s Staff Conference ‘27. - Coach and resource other Catalyze team members as assigned (the specifics of this will vary based on the ultimate size of the team but might include being a primary point of contact for ~5-7 Catalyze Team staff). - Manage one or more project elements on behalf of the whole Catalyze team as requested (i.e., creating/leading execution of a marketing plan, field communications, team training, meeting leadership, etc.) QUALIFICATIONS - Annually affirm InterVarsity’s Statement of Agreement (Doctrinal Basis and Purpose Statement). Abide by InterVarsity’s Code of Conduct. Believe and behave consonantly with InterVarsity’s Human Sexuality Theological Paper. Affirm and behave consonantly with InterVarsity’s “Women in Ministry Statement of Affirmation.” - Bachelor’s degree required for CSMs assigned to a four-year campus. A minimum of an Associate’s degree required for CSMs assigned to a two-year campus or a community college. - Strong interpersonal skills (including ability to minister to diverse ethnic communities and faculty). - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Demonstrated problem solving skills. - A working knowledge of current Microsoft software applications (Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint) is preferred. Pay Range: $22.00/hour (subsidized) up to $26.00/hour with MPD Pay Range: $21.16 - $28.21 per hour Pay: This position is funded through personal fundraising. Accordingly, compensation will vary based on the ability of the individual to secure a donor team to fund the cost of his/her salary.
