• Design and build scalable systems, services, and user-facing workflows that support Upstart Bank’s core platform and operations • Own technical design and delivery for medium-to-large engineering projects spanning multiple quarters • Translate business, operational, and regulatory requirements into reliable, maintainable software • Improve system reliability, performance, observability, and data consistency across distributed services and integrations • Contribute to architecture and design discussions, helping systems evolve for scale, auditability, and long-term maintainability • Partner with product, compliance, operations, and other engineers to deliver high-quality solutions in a regulated environment • Uphold a high engineering bar through strong implementation, code review, testing, and operational ownership

• Design, develop, document, test, and debug complex space simulation software • Lead project efforts and support architectural visioning and technical planning • Support modeling and simulation research across multiple disciplines • Collaborate using tools such as Confluence, Discourse, GitLab, and Jira • Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to high engineering standards • Partner with government leadership to maintain priorities and direction • Meet with customers to gather requirements and incorporate feedback • Provide regular progress updates and presentations to customers and leadership

• Implement defined components, small features, defect fixes, and service enhancements from design through deployment. • Write secure, stable, testable, and maintainable code using current software engineering practices. • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, sprint planning, and troubleshooting efforts. • Create or maintain automated tests where practical and thoroughly validate delivered functionality. • Document important design intent, operational notes, and technical assumptions for the software you change. • Support production systems through monitoring, troubleshooting, incident response, and follow-up fixes as needed. • Use approved AI-assisted development tools, where appropriate, to improve productivity in coding, testing, debugging, or documentation while retaining full ownership of output quality. • Handle data and system access in accordance with Businessolver policies for security, privacy, and compliance.
