Commercial Manager

• Overseeing all commercial aspects of Design-Build projects from inception through to completion. • Identifying and managing risks, negotiating project agreements, ensuring profitability, and fostering strong client relationships. • Reviewing and proposing revisions to RFPs, Teaming Agreements, NDAs, Joint Venture Agreements, and other types of contract documents. • Leading the negotiation, drafting, and administration of contracts with clients, joint venture partners, subcontractors, and suppliers, collaborating with legal counsel as needed. • Developing risk mitigation strategies and monitoring their implementation. • Ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements related to commercial activities such as subcontracting and procurement. • Establishing, deploying, and overseeing Change Management and Claims administration. • Coordinating with technical teams to assist in the preparation of bids and proposals for Design-Build projects. • Managing subcontractor/subconsultant relationships and advising project management regarding commercial approach if issues arise. • Working closely with Project Controls to ensure alignment with commercial strategies and objectives.

Job Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in commercial management, contract negotiation, and financial oversight within the construction or engineering industry, ideally with exposure to design-build projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or a related field. JD or relevant advanced degree preferred.
  • Strong understanding of contract law, project finance principles, and commercial terms and conditions. Familiarity with commercial considerations for alternative delivery projects, including public-private partnerships, design-build, and progressive design-build, preferred.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify risks posed by contract documents, including scope and technical provisions, as well as the ability to discern contractual rights and advise project teams on strategies for enforcement.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and familiarity with project management and project controls software.
  • Experience performing schedule delay analysis preferred but not mandatory
