Role Description Bridge Specialty Group is seeking a Personal Lines Underwriter to join our growing team! This Personal Lines Underwriter is responsible for quoting, binding and servicing complex property submissions with a non-admitted carrier. How You Will Contribute: - Use critical thinking, understanding of the market and underwriting best practices to determine individual risk acceptability, pricing, best coverage, terms and conditions within established authority and carrier guidelines. - Provide clear communication and documentation of rationale for decisions and options. - Review inspection reports to confirm eligibility and accuracy of risk presentation; communicate required action and present solutions as needed to maintain profitability and retention. - Collect proper documentation and forms to maintain customer files accurately and consistently in accordance with department workflows and procedures. - Collect and review Surplus Lines forms for accuracy and completeness. - Building and maintaining positive agency and carrier relationships with regular communication. - Assist customers in determining risk placement amongst a wide variety of admitted and non-admitted markets. - Assist customers in servicing accounts; respond to inquiries in a timely and professional manner. - Identify potential errors and omissions exposures and implement procedures which will minimize or eliminate same. - Train teammates on carrier products and procedures; serve as a resource for internal staff when addressing technical underwriting issues, keep underwriting training materials up to date and communicate changes to team. - Pursue a program of personal and professional development. - Other duties as assigned. Qualifications - Current California State Insurance License and appropriate Non-Resident Licenses. - CPCU and/or CIC designations (preferred). Requirements - 3-5 years of personal lines underwriting experience. - E&S wholesale experience (preferred). - Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, & Outlook). - Working knowledge of carrier websites (preferred). - Experience with Agency Management Software Systems. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and within FERPA and HIPAA guidelines.
