What You Will Be Doing As a Senior Database Administrator, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining the robust and scalable database systems that underpin our network automation platforms. You will be responsible for ensuring optimal database performance, security, and availability, while also collaborating closely with software developers to integrate data solutions effectively. This role demands a proactive approach to database architecture, performance tuning, and problem-solving, as you weigh the pros and cons of various technical approaches. Responsibilities will include but will not be limited to: - Designing, implementing, and maintaining highly available, scalable, and secure database solutions for our network automation applications. - Optimizing database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, and proactive monitoring for both SQL and NoSQL databases. - Developing and implementing robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for all critical database systems. - Ensuring data integrity, consistency, and security across all database environments in compliance with Citi standards. - Collaborating with software development teams to design efficient data models and optimize application-database interactions. - Automating routine database administration tasks and integrating database operations into our CI/CD pipelines. - Troubleshooting and resolving complex database-related issues in production and non-production environments. - Providing expert guidance and mentorship to other team members on database best practices and emerging technologies. - Evaluating and recommending new database technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance our existing infrastructure. Experience You Need for this Position - 5+ years of extensive experience as a Database Administrator or Database Engineer in an enterprise environment. - 5+ years of hands-on experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL, including advanced SQL tuning. - 3+ years of experience with NoSQL databases, particularly MongoDB, including schema design and performance optimization. - Proven expertise in database architecture, data modeling, and schema design for high-transactional systems. - Strong experience with database performance monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting tools. - Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) for database automation and administration. - Experience with database security best practices, access control, and auditing. - Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and how database changes are managed within a DevOps framework. - Demonstrable experience with database backup, recovery, and high-availability solutions (e.g., Oracle Data Guard, AlwaysOn Availability Groups, MongoDB Replica Sets). Nice to have Experience for this Position - Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools for database provisioning (e.g., Terraform, Ansible). - Some experience with Java or Node.js development for collaborating with application teams.
