Position Summary The Senior Director - Portfolio and Program Management is the head of PMO and senior leader responsible for driving strategic global execution across clinical and technical development programs in Lilly Regenerative Medicines (LRM). This role oversees cross-functional planning, governance, and operational delivery across the portfolio, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, regulatory milestones, and resource optimization. This person will lead a high-performing program management team and partner closely with Functional Leads in Clinical Development, Medical Sciences, Clinical Operations, Regulatory, Quality, CMC, Non-clinical, Medical Affairs, Commercial and other functions to ensure strategic, timely and successful advancement of Adverum’s gene therapy programs. What You’ll Do: Strategic Program Leadership - Lead the global development and execution of integrated program strategies across clinical, technical, regulatory, and commercial functions. - Translate corporate goals into actionable program plans, ensuring alignment across timelines, budgets, and deliverables. - Serve as a key member of the senior leadership team, contributing to portfolio prioritization, risk mitigation, strategic decision-making, and enterprise-wide resource allocation strategies. - Serve as the Pharmaceutical PM (PPM) to co-lead development assets with the COO; provide program oversight, execution discipline, and risk/issue management. Portfolio & Governance Oversight - Lead the PMO and evaluate, refine and implement governance frameworks and operational processes, including Program Core Team and Sub-teams, accountable for successful development of ophthalmology assets in LRM. - Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, scalability, transparency, accountability and program delivery excellence through structured reporting, risk tracking, and milestone management. - Ensure consistent communication and alignment across functions and leadership levels. - Guide program strategy decision making across advisory and endorsement governance bodies. - Provide updates on program status, milestones, risks, and financials to executive leadership and board members. Develop and deliver data-driven presentations, program dashboards, and LGM Board of Directors and Portfolio Steering Committee slides. Cross-Functional Integration - Partner with Core Team COO and representatives from Clinical Development, Medical Sciences, Clinical Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Process Development, Analytical Development, Quality, Manufacturing, Medical Affairs, Commercial, and other functions to ensure seamless execution of development programs. - Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to resolve issues, manage dependencies, and optimize resource allocation. - Lead scenario planning and contingency development to proactively address risks and shifting priorities. - Lead and coordinate cross-functional program teams including OUS affiliates ensuring all stakeholders are synchronized on priorities, timelines and deliverables. Operational Excellence & Team Leadership - Build and mentor a high-performing program management team, fostering a culture of strategic thinking, ownership, and continuous improvement. - Develop and implement best practices, tools, and systems to enhance program execution and portfolio visibility. - Provide coaching and support to global program and project managers across the organization. Minimum Requirements: - Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, engineering, or related STEM field required; advanced degree (MS, MBA, PhD) preferred. - 10+ years of experience in biopharmaceutical drug development and program management, including leadership of complex development programs. Additional Preferences: - Proven success in managing cross-functional teams and global development programs in gene therapy, biologics, or advanced modalities. - Deep understanding of clinical development, regulatory pathways, CMC, and manufacturing operations. - Strong strategic planning, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. - Demonstrated ability to lead in a matrixed environment and influence at the executive level. The anticipated wage for this position is $156,000 - $253,000 Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
