PURPOSE AND SCOPE: Responsible for designing, implementing, operating, and securing network infrastructure across public cloud environments (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP) and hybrid architectures. This role partners closely with cloud, security, and application teams to ensure scalable, resilient, and secure network connectivity that supports business-critical workloads. Determines network strategies and competence by planning delivery of solutions; answering technical and procedural questions for less experienced team members; teaching improved processes; mentoring team members. Determines network requirements by evaluating business strategies and requirements; researching information network standards; conducting system network and vulnerability analyses and risk assessments; studying architecture/platform; identifying integration issues; preparing cost estimates. Plans network systems by evaluating network and network technologies; developing requirements for local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), virtual private networks (VPNs), routers, load balancers. Wireless LANS, and related network and network devices; designs IP Address Management infrastructures (IPAMs), including use of DHCP and DNS that adhere to industry standards. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Design, deploy, and manage cloud-based network architectures, including VPC/VNet design, routing, gateways, load balancers, and private connectivity. - Implement and support hybrid connectivity solutions (VPN, ExpressRoute, Direct Connect, SD-WAN). - Troubleshoot complex network connectivity issues across cloud and on-prem environments. - Collaborate with cloud platform, security, and application teams on architecture and operational best practices. - Design, implement, and support end‑to‑end network architecture across data center, cloud, campus, and WAN environments - Assist in establishing reference architectures, design standards, and guardrails used across the organization - Lead deep technical investigations involving performance, resilience, or security failures - Ensure network architectures meet availability, resiliency, compliance, and security requirements - Identify systemic risks and drive preventative architectural improvements Additional responsibilities may include focus on one or more departments or locations. EDUCATION: - Bachelor's Degree preferred; Advanced Degree preferred - A degree in Computer Science or MIS a plus. - MIS or Computer Science course work at the graduate level a plus - Certification in a Network role (e.g. CCIE) is highly desirable. EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS: - Minimum of 12 years' related experience of which at least 8 years should be in a network role - Strong expertise in major cloud providers (Azure, AWS, GCP). - Solid understanding of: - TCP/IP, DNS, BGP, NAT, routing and switching - Cloud networking services (VNets/VPCs, subnets, gateways, load balancers) - Deep expertise in routing and switching (BGP, OSPF, IS‑IS, EVPN/VXLAN) - Strong experience with data center and WAN architectures (MPLS, SD‑WAN) - Advanced knowledge of network security concepts (firewalls, segmentation, zero trust, SASE) - Hands‑on experience with monitoring, telemetry, and performance optimization - Expert working level with switches, routers, wireless LANs, load balancing, DNS The rate of pay for this position will depend on the successful candidate’s work location and qualifications, including relevant education, work experience, skills, and competencies. Key Responsibilities WAN, Routing, Switching & Wireless - Design and operate Cisco SD-WAN architectures (control/data/management planes) - Implement segmentation (VPNs/VRFs), application-aware routing, and DIA strategies - Lead WAN-to-SD-WAN migrations - Design, implement, and troubleshoot: - BGP (eBGP/iBGP): redistribution, filtering, route-maps, path selection - OSPF: multi-area, summarization, LSA optimization - EIGRP (legacy environments) - Implement high availability: HSRP/VRRP, ECMP, IP SLA, WAN failover - Design and operate Cisco Catalyst 9800 WLCs - Optimize RF, RRM, and roaming performance; troubleshoot high-density environments - Implement secure wireless (ISE, 802.1X) and support site surveys Campus & Switching - Design and operate Cisco Catalyst 9000 (9300/9400/9500) - Implement L2/L3 features: VLAN/SVI, LACP, Rapid-PVST/MST, storm control - Perform deep packet-path analysis across network layers Automation, Observability & Cloud (AWS) - Develop automation using Ansible and/or Python - Integrate with Cisco APIs (RESTCONF, NETCONF, SD-WAN APIs) - Use Catalyst Center (DNAC) for provisioning and assurance - Leverage telemetry (NetFlow, SNMP, streaming) for visibility - Partner with Cloud Engineering on hybrid AWS connectivity - Design HA routing between on-prem, SD-WAN, and AWS (BGP, failover) - Support WAN transformation and cloud integration initiatives - Correlate data across platforms to identify systemic issues - Use SD-WAN, Catalyst Center, and firewall analytics for proactive monitoring - Validate AI-driven insights using packet-level analysis - Reduce MTTD/MTTR via telemetry and intelligent monitoring - Drive adoption of AIOps and improve alerting/observability standards - Automate repetitive operational tasks aligned with DevOps workflows Security, Identity & Access - Operate Cisco Firepower NGFW (FMC-managed) - Troubleshoot ACLs, NAT, IPS, VPNs, and HA configurations - Analyze packet captures for routing/policy issues - Design and support 802.1X (wired/wireless) with Cisco ISE: - Policy sets, profiling, TACACS+, dynamic VLANs - Partner with Security teams on Zero Trust enforcement Collaboration & Operations - Work across global teams and time zones - Participate in design, incident, and operational reviews - Maintain accurate documentation - Participate in on-call rotations - Demonstrate ownership, accountability, and continuous learning Required Qualifications - 6–8 years enterprise network engineering experience - CCNP certification (required) - Advanced Cisco networking expertise - Strong BGP and OSPF design/troubleshooting skills - Proven Cisco SD-WAN experience - Hands-on with: - Cisco Catalyst 9000 - Cisco Catalyst 9800 WLC - Cisco Firepower NGFW - Cisco ISE (802.1X) - High-availability network design experience - Experience with AWS and/or Azure connectivity - Strong production troubleshooting skills - Automation experience (Ansible or Python required) - Experience in global/multi-region environments - Professional English proficiency - ITIL (Incident & Change Management) experience - ServiceNow experience Preferred Qualifications & Competencies - CCNP Enterprise Automation (ENAUTO 300-425) - Experience in 24/7 global support environments - Strong problem-solving and ownership mindset - Clear written and verbal communication - Openness to feedback and continuous improvement If a Genesys employee referred you, please use the link they sent you to apply.
