Role Description The Manager, Program Mentoring Faculty works to ensure both student and employee success. Leads and supervises a team of mentors and is responsible for the professional development and performance of its members. - Works closely with members of the WGU management team to understand and inform university policies and procedures. - Develops and conducts team- and program-specific mentor training programs, collaborating with others to achieve efficiency while ensuring quality and consistency. - Demonstrates WGU’s “students-first” culture and leads a team of mentors. - Establishes clear performance expectations and manages assigned mentor performance consistent with university goals and job requirements. - Effectively performs the duties of a mentor when serving assigned students. Essential Functions and Responsibilities - Establishes clear performance expectations for, and with input from, assigned mentors. - Manages mentor performance to achieve OTP, retention, and student satisfaction goals. - Conducts mentor performance reviews and manages performance improvement plans. - Develops and leads team- and program-specific training initiatives. - Coaches assigned mentors via call shadowing and other training methods. - Catalyst for team morale. Ensures that mentors are connected and engaged with each other. - Leads team meetings. Designs and leads training meetings. - Provides direct, comprehensive guidance to assigned students and assigned mentors. - Maintains appropriate documentation of all student- and employee-related transactions. - Manages students’ academic progress according to university policies. - Uses the telephone and email extensively throughout the day. - Understands WGU degree programs, policies, and procedures. - Provides accurate information and high-quality customer service at all times. - Supports university colleagues, as necessary. - Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skill and Abilities - Ability to lead ongoing training for assigned team members. - Manages team performance. - Collaboration. - Leads ongoing team- and program-specific training in a distributed (remote employees) environment. - Strong verbal skills, with ability to present information clearly, concisely, and accurately; friendly, persuasive speaking style. - Remarkable organization talent is a requisite. - Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications - Master's degree in a related field of study from an accredited institution. - Three (3) years of experience in the following areas: - Managing projects in a fast-paced and complex environment. - Leading cross-functional teams. - Leading teams to impact organizational outcomes through specific interventions. - Facilitating training. - Analyzing data. - Using data to drive decisions. - Presenting to diverse audiences. Preferred Qualifications - 3-5 Years managing a team of 5 or more direct reports. - 1+ year of Mentor experience. Physical Requirements - Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. - May be required to work some evenings and weekends. - Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. - Works primarily from home within the continental United States and is available to travel to meetings as required. - This position requires occasional travel of up to 20%, including required attendance at designated company summits (typically one to two per year). - Additional travel may include conferences, visits to company locations, and other business-related events as needed. Role Description The Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) Manager is assigned as primary interface between the Certificate Management Office (CMO) and the assigned air carrier to prevent accidents and incidents by encouraging employees of the air carrier to voluntarily report safety issues and events. Has program responsibility for the vehicle whereby employees of the air carrier can identify and report safety issues to management and FAA for resolution. Duties - Assists the CMO in compilation of data for the Surveillance Evaluation Program (SEP). - Performs inspections, surveillance, and certification duties for the air carrier, airmen, and designee(s) as directed by the frontline manager (FLM) of the CMO. - Has program responsibility to assure that assigned organizations meet Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) with respect to flight operations programs. - Flight Oversight ASIs do not conduct certification (pilot evaluating, testing, and checking) job functions as a required crewmember, including safety pilot. - The incumbent will not, in any scenario, act as a required crewmember or safety pilot of an aircraft. - Flight Oversight ASIs apply a broad knowledge of the aviation industry, aviation safety, and Federal aviation laws, regulations, and policies. Responsibilities - Under the general direction of the Principal Inspector or Supervisory Principal Inspector, accomplishes the following duties: - Technical Administration: - Reviews, recommends approval, and maintains a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that sets forth all operational elements of the ASAP. - Serves as the CMO representative on any/all Event Review Committee(s) (ERC). - Prepares document providing data for improving the certificate holder's current systems. - Assists the certificate holder in planning for future systems based on the certificate holder employee's voluntary reports of safety issues. - Assists the certificate holder in developing programs using compatible data collection, analysis, storage, and retrieval systems. - Determines if safety-related reports submitted by the employees of the certificate holder qualify for inclusion in ASAP. - Reviews and analyzes said reports to identify actual or potential problems and propose solutions. - Maintains records and historical data on all ASAP safety-related reports. - Advises the appropriate Regional Flight Surgeon on any issues involving medical qualifications or medical certificates. - Consults with other FAA and industry experts on reported events involving matters that are complex or sensitive. - Gathers sufficient evidence relevant to an investigation not caused by investigations and prepares final reports and recommendations on disposition. - Conducts the reexamination of certificated airmen. - Advises Principal Inspectors and CMO management on all significant or sensitive issues and events concerning ASAP. - Conducts investigations of public complaints, congressional inquiries, aircraft incidents, and aircraft accidents. - Provides verbal and/or written technical assistance to legal counsel, testifies at court trials and formal hearings, and gives depositions. - Coordinates information from geographic inspectors for the accomplishment of the SEP program. - Works with the certificate holder's department heads to resolve safety issues. - Certification: - Evaluates and recommends approval or disapproval of manuals and revisions. - Evaluates training programs to ensure they meet the requirements of 14 CFR. - Evaluates performance and recommends approval or disapproval concerning the designation of company instructors and check airmen. - Evaluates operations and facilities by onsite inspections and review of reports by geographic inspectors or others. - Participates in providing flight evaluations. - Surveillance: - At the direction of the FLM of the CMO, performs any required surveillance activity. - Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications - Not more than two separate incidents involving Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations violations in the last five years. - Valid State driver’s license. - Fluency in the English language. - No chemical dependencies or drug abuse that could interfere with job performance. - High school diploma or equivalent. Medical Requirements - Have good distance vision in each eye and be able to read, without strain, printed materials the size of typewritten characters (glasses and contact lenses permitted). - Have the ability to hear the conversational voice (hearing aid permitted). - Not have any physical conditions that would cause them to be a hazard to themselves or others or that would interfere with their ability to operate/occupy a flight deck observer’s seat (jumpseat) or a cabin passenger seat in a variety of aircraft. Additional Qualifications - At least one year of pilot experience in multi-engine aircraft of more than 12,500 pounds maximum certificated takeoff weight. - Three years of experience working in an organization with an air carrier, commercial operator, or air agency certificate. - At least one year of this experience must be with an organization that operated multiengine aircraft of more than 12,500 pounds maximum takeoff weight. - Minimum 1,500 total flight hours. - Must hold a valid Airline Transport Pilot Certificate. - Not more than two flying accidents during the last five years in which the applicant's pilot error was involved.
